About us

Stevenage Town Centre is being transformed through a £1bn regeneration programme, being led by Stevenage Borough Council. The transformation of the town centre is diversifying its offer, with residential, commercial space, leisure, and an evening economy all coming together in a step-change for the town. In March 2021 the council was awarded £37.5m of funding through the national Government’s Town Fund initiative. The Stevenage Development Board was set up in March 2020 to formulate a bid for this. Stevenage were one of 101 towns in England invited to bid, and were successfully awarded £37.5m following the submission of the Stevenage Town Investment Plan, set out and ratified by the Stevenage Development Board. The Stevenage Development Board is chaired by businessperson Adrian Hawkins OBE, the Independent Chair. The Board brings together voluntary key stakeholders from public sector organisations, private businesses, not-for-profit organisations and Heritage organisations, to ensure a diverse range of views are represented. The council continues to work in close partnership with private investors for major commercial and residential development within the town, including Mace, Reef Group and The Guinness Partnership. Located approximately 30 miles from Central London, Stevenage is home to a wide range of international sector-leading companies and hundreds of ground-breaking STEM organisations. The town is a focal point for businesses and we are committed to working in partnership with new and future businesses.
