About us
Micro business owners dealing with cancer encounter financial challenges that impact both their personal and professional life, leading to reduced income and increased costs across both. With a staggering 75% facing personal financial disadvantages upon diagnosis long before the business impacts are felt. Combined with the the lack of targeted support for micro business owners this compounds the stress and complexity of running their business along side their cancer journey which ultimately results in a staggering 55% closing their business including going bankrupt. We both know from painful personal experience how challenging it is to run a business with a cancer diagnosis and hope that Stronger Together Through Cancer CIC will provide that valuable support that is so desperately lacking for micro business owners. So using our personally experience we created our community interest company to exclusively support Kent and Medway Micro Business Owners throughout their cancer journey by providing access to personal and professional services specifically for micro business owners From Macmillan reports, personal research and our own personal experience we have established that around 55% of businesses are closed both voluntary and involuntary due to the lack of personal and professional support, advice and guidance for micro business owners. We are passionate that micro business owners have the opportunity to continue to run their business whilst managing the impact of their cancer journey and not be one of the 55% who close their business impacting both them and the business community. So Stronger Together Through Cancer CIC will be the only dedicated, safe centre in Kent and Medway for micro business owners seeking help on how to navigate support, advice and guidance along with easy access to personal and professional services so they can continue to run their business whilst managing the impact of cancer.

Last Thursday, our co-founders Adelle Martin (MBA) and Fiona Shoults Medical Tattooist attended the first Breakthrough Women's Networking Brunch celebrating International Women's Day. Adelle and Fiona have been a part of this networking group for five years, which is organised by the wonderful Deborah Turner and Sue Hainsby. What made this occasion particularly special was that in December, Adelle was honoured with the Breakthrough Women Award, and our charity was selected as the Breakthrough Women’s Charity for 2025 – achievements that left both of them utterly overwhelmed. Their journey, both with the charity and personally, has come a long way. Today felt different as they arrived early with our socially responsible merchandise, raffle tickets, and team members to set up before the attendees arrived. The support was immediate and heartwarming, with ladies purchasing raffle tickets and merchandise and inquiring about becoming one of the "Angels." A special shout-out to our other Alliances in the room: Gina from PhotoGnic and @Nikki from NDH Productions, our photography and video team, and our Angels—Cherie Bennett, Tawa Dowling, and Juliet Romá , who were also at the event. Thank you to the women who donated raffle prizes and helped us raise £400: Fiona Shoults, Lisa Settle, Nicky Westbrook, Juliet Wallace, and Breakthrough Women.
