Just before ending 2024, studio 4215 wrote a paper/sumarry of our work approach. We always focus on early-stage design input, to be able to apply environmental thinking and shape projects before the design becomes constrained. Our workflows, take advantage of cutting edge simulation engines, and ensure our design input responds best to climate and location. One such tool is ENVI-met that enables us to assess things like materiality, vegetation and effect of water features in outdoor comfort, even at a very early stage. Our "palette studies" create a set of guidelines for Architects and Landscape Designers that can shape the design from day 1. In this study, our very own Gursharan Randhawa and Joao Pedro Silva, profficient in the use of #envimet are showcasing some of those early stage findings and the way we work. #environmentaldesign #outdoorcomfort

Ever wondered how the materials and trees we choose can make a city feel 10 degrees cooler? London's studio 4215 is doing just that, and we're excited to share their story. Using #envimet's environmental modeling, they're helping architects and designers make smarter choices about outdoor spaces. Their Palette Studies show exactly how different design elements affect the way we experience outdoor spaces. As Byron Mardas from Studio 4215 puts it: "Our early-stage methodology empowers design teams to shape outdoor comfort by comparing material and landscape impacts, ensuring climate-aware choices from the start." Here's what makes their approach special: - Strategic tree placement for optimal microclimate creation - Water feature integration for enhanced cooling effects - Material selection based on performance under extreme conditions Want to see the full study? Check out below how their findings could transform your next project. Ready to make your designs more climate-smart? We will be holding our second of a series of webinars on September 25th @ 12:30 BST - Climate Adaptation & Resilience: Multi-sector Innovations in Extreme Heat. With yet another year of rising heat levels across the globe, we face a serious problem mainly driven by climate change and growing urbanisation, which increases the frequency, intensity and duration of extreme heat events. In turn it poses a threat to ecosystems, human lives and settlements, infrastructure and economies. This multidisciplinary webinar will explore innovative strategies for navigating this complex challenge. With a panel of experts from various fields, we will discuss collaboration to develop effective and holistic heat mitigation strategies. From nature-based solutions to heat measurement (including digital and manual) practices, the webinar will provide a comprehensive exploration of strategies for adapting and building resilient and thriving places.
