Building strategy-driven brands for Designers, Architects and Photographers | Helping you attract the work you want

I wasn’t experienced enough to start a design business. But 2 years ago I still launched Studio Sulis. Why? Around that time I was researching into different careers. I was bored of doing small graphic design jobs. So I started connecting with other designers, strategists and creatives. They were creating their own path. I was excited to do the same. This is what I did: - Read a lot about brand strategy - Learnt how to code - Did passion projects - Took business-related webinars - Developed a niche - Asked for feedback - Researched my ideal client - Curated a portfolio that aligned with the work I wanted to attract - Learnt about marketing - Reached out to other designers - Streamlined my processes - Created services designed for my ideal client - Continued to develop my design skills - Connected and engaged with other creative businesses I knew I had work to do. Now Studio Sulis builds brands for interior designers, architects, garden designers and photographers. Offering services in brand strategy, graphic design and website design. Key takeaways 1) Networking creates opportunities to learn from others and connect with like-minded people. 2) Be prepared to put in the work. You will make mistakes along the way but it’s how you learn from them. #branddesign #designstudio #branddesigner #brandstrategist #personalbranding

Building strategy-driven brands for Designers, Architects and Photographers | Helping you attract the work you want

In August, I started working with a wedding photographer. Although they had an exceptional portfolio, they were struggling to stand out in a crowded market. We turned things around with: 1) A strong visual identity ↳ We developed a cohesive and professional looking identity. 2) Clear brand direction ↳ We implemented a brand strategy that aligned with their goals and resonated with their target audience. 3) Customisable templates ↳ These templates not only saves time, but ensured their online presence is consistent and visually appealing. As a result our client: 1) Increased client engagement ↳They saw a notable increase in client enquiries and engagement on social media. 2) Developed streamlined processes ↳ This allowed them to focus more on their passion for photography and less on managing their brand. Need help getting started? I have some availability for my Brand Mini package. It includes: - Mini strategy - Logosuite - Colour palette - Font selection - Brand guidelines Perfect for creatives starting a new business or looking to rebrand. Get in touch for more details. 4 tips for Designers, Architects and Photographers who haven’t studied branding. 1) Create a relevant portfolio - Showcase work you want to do more of. - Give clients an insight into what they can expect from you. 2) Use Brand Guidelines - Inconsistencies look messy and lack credibility. - A set of guidelines is a beneficial way to record your brand fonts, colours, etc. 3) Have a clear purpose - What does your business do and who is it for. - A targeted message will stand out to the right people. 4) Be specific - Create copy that speaks to a specific person. - If you talk to everyone you’ll stand out to no one. Is there anything you’d add? #creativebusiness #personalbranding #interiordesigner #smallbusinessowner #creativecommunity

My clients love pre-made, customisable templates. Here’s why: 1) Saves valuable time ↳ Instead of starting from scratch, they can quickly implement a professionally designed template. 2) Designed with software that matches their skillset ↳ Whether it's PowerPoint, Apple Pages, Canva, or Adobe, our templates are tailored to fit the tools our clients are comfortable with. 3) Professional and consistent design they have confidence in ↳ Clients feel confident presenting their content, knowing that their design is visually appealing and consistent with their brand identity. 4) Easily adaptable to fit changing needs ↳ Clients can easily tweak and modify elements to reflect campaigns and business strategies. This flexibility ensures their design remains relevant and effective over time. 5) Streamlines the design process to enhance their customers' experience ↳ A streamlined design process means quicker turnaround times and a more efficient workflow. Using pre-made, customisable templates has transformed the way our clients approach their design needs. Want to find out more? Is your brand confusing clients?💭 The Symptoms 1) You receive random enquiries 2) You don’t attract enough work The Cause 1) Your messaging isn’t clear 2) You’re not connecting with the right people 3) You’re not standing out from your competitors The Solution ↳ Develop a niche. Often businesses are afraid to do this. They fear losing clients. This isn’t the case! A targeted message will have more impact when it reaches the right person. The truth is: - Your brand will speak directly to this person - You can build a reputation as an expert - Clients will know what to expect - It will increase the value of your services - Your business will become more referable Build a brand you want to be known for. Being too general makes it easy for potential clients to overlook your business. Your ideal client will be faced with options. Make sure you’re the obvious choice. #brandingtips #personalbrand #personalbranding #designstudio #branddesign

My 4 step framework that generated 2 new clients in July: 1) Show your process ↳ Clients want to know what they can expect. Show step-by-step how you will work with them. 2) Share case studies ↳ Curate a portfolio with projects that are similar to the kind of work you want to attract. 3) Create a transitional CTA ↳ Clients might not be ready to invest right now. So share something of value that will spark their interest and make you memorable. 4) Post with intention ↳ Find out which platform your ideal client hangs out. Focus on getting really good on that platform. My aim is to showcase the value of my services. Not on every social media platform. Not to every person. I’m prioritising the time I spend on my business. Focusing on building a brand that attracts my ideal clients. Building strategy-driven brands for Designers, Architects and Photographers | Helping you attract the work you want

Last year I worked with an Interior Designer. They were struggling to attract the right clients. We talked about some of the challenges they’d been facing. - Random enquiries - Long quiet periods - DIY graphic design - No clear direction - Keeping up with social media - Managing client expectations They were embarrassed about their brand. It wasn’t the image they wanted to present to clients. This is what we did: 1) Identified areas they were struggling with 2) Defined their mission and vision 3) Created a strategy that aligned with their goals 4) Designed a bespoke identity 5) Put together customisable templates The brand didn’t reflect the quality of their work. It was holding them back. My approach gave them confidence. - It positioned them as an expert. - Gave clients a reason to trust them. - Attracted their ideal projects. - Allowed them to increase the price of their work. Branding creates opportunities. Don’t let it hold you back. #brandingtips #branddesign #designstudio #interiordesign #interiordesigner
