Designing a world where women and LGBTQ+ people are empowered to make the changes they want to see in the world.
About us
Studio Lutalica is a non-profit design studio dedicated to centring and uplifting the voices of women and LGBTQ+ communities through creative solutions grounded in lived experience. Our vision is to design a world where these communities are empowered to make the changes they want to see. Our mission is to fearlessly uplift the voices of women and LGBTQ+ people by addressing their unique challenges. We believe lived experience is at the centre of our ethos, and our creative solutions act as a vehicle for change, enabling our clients to expand and enhance their positive impact. We are a diverse team that co-creates and shares values, missions, and experiences with our clients and their audiences. By centring the perspectives of women and LGBTQ+ people, we provide authentic, engaging, and impactful creative services that foster a sense of belonging and psychological safety. Our offerings include branding, web, editorial, content creation, and more, all designed to challenge traditional industry norms and create a more equitable world. Our core values of Intersectional Feminism, People Over Profit, and Radical Collaboration guide everything we do. We operate as a joyful resistance against a systemically privileged and inequitable creative industry. Our clients appreciate our pushback on outdated power structures and understand that true reflection of a community requires including their voices. We are the studio for brands, organisations, and individuals committed to creating a more equitable world. Like the communities we represent, our work breaks down boundaries and challenges expectations. Our story is their story. Let’s redesign the future together.

We're thrilled to announce that Studio Lutalica is now certified as a People and Planet First social enterprise! This certification is a great way of affirming the work we’re doing to ensure our way of working reflects our values. Thank you to Good Market for facilitating 🙌 Here's why this certification matters to us: 🌍 Joining a global movement: We’re all about collaboration over competition and today's global challenges, can’t be solved in isolation. That's why we love the opportunity to connect with like-minded enterprises for collective action and meaningful change with SEWF - Social Enterprise World Forum C.I.C. 🤝 Prioritising people over profit: Our mission is to create a more equitable world through design, and that starts by making sure we’re looking after our staff, clients and collaborators — and making a big deal out of it until it becomes the norm. 💚 Commitment to sustainability: We practice sustainable methods and consider the environmental ethics of everyone we work with. Find out more about the certification, and join the movement for a diverse economy that works for the many here 👉 peopleandplanetfirst.org #PurposeOverProfit

Excited to share our latest work for Bi+ Equal! 🌟 Funded by the European Commission, Bi+ Equal is working to create a pan-European bi+ umbrella organisation promoting gender equality and sustainable development. We were thrilled to work with them on a partial rebrand, enhancing their logo, colour palette, typography, and website design. Our focus on collaboration and accessibility aligns perfectly with Bi+ Equal's vision to empower the bi+ community across countries and organisations. They're currently recruiting for volunteers, so if this sounds like it could be you, definitely check them out! 🌟 Exciting news! We've been featured in the inaugural issue of Imperfect Index, in a piece on LGBTQ+ design by Kinda Savarino. The publication, co-founded by Abbie Vickress and Laura Parke, aims to broaden the understanding of graphic design by addressing its historical and current biases. Days of Rage, a digital exhibition of LGBTQ+ activist materials, we delivered with One Institute, is highlighted in this issue. This is a project we're really proud of, so it's great to see it shared with a new audience. You can find out more about our work on it here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eUH7YfZJ Wishing our best to Imperfect Index and Sold Out Publishing - we're keen to see what else it brings to the dialogue in graphic design. 🌟 It’s #LivingWageWeek 2024, and we’re reflecting on what it means to be a certified Living Wage Scotland employer. Earlier this year, we proudly achieved this certification, reaffirming our commitment to fair pay. Unlike the national minimum wage, the real Living Wage, is adjusted to reflect the true cost of living, covering essentials like housing, childcare, transport, and heating. A Living Wage in the UK has been calculated at £12.60 and hour, which is £4 more than the minimum wage for 18-20 year olds. However, as of last week the National Living Wage is set to increase to £12.21 for people over 21, and £10 per hour for 18-20 year olds which is a big step in the right direction, thanks to the people power. At Studio Lutalica, we believe that fair pay is fundamentally linked to gender equality and essential for promoting equal oppourtunities across people from underepresented groups. Compensating both our employees and freelancers fairly for all their contributions, from creating proposals to project reviews, is really important to us. Find out more about why we got our Living Wage Certification in this blog post from June 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2iB_ybh We’d encourage any organisations or business in Scotland to ensure they’re paying their staff a wage they can actually live on — and get the certification to prove it. Want to learn more or get involved? Check out the Living Wage Week events 👉 https://lnkd.in/ewp3J2M Let’s continue to push for fair wages and a decent standard of living 💰🏴
