  • Something a little different but an important avenue of support to be aware of: ‘Travel to Refuge is an umbrella scheme in which travel companies cover the cost of train or coach tickets for women, men and children escaping domestic abuse travelling to refuge accommodation. It’s made up of two schemes: Rail to Refuge, a joint initiative between Women’s Aid and the Rail Delivery Group, set up in April 2020, providing free rail travel for survivors of abuse. Road to Refuge, a joint initiative between Women’s Aid and National Express, set up in 2023, providing free coach travel for survivors of abuse.’ https://lnkd.in/dvKrY5yN

  • Brene Brown is always spot on in describing the human experience. We believe that many of the young people we see who are struggling to go to school, struggle because they don’t feel they belong there. If you don’t feel you belong, how can you feel safe? How can you focus on your learning as opposed to trying your best to fit in? How can you be vulnerable and feel able to make mistakes, in order to learn? Learning requires safety, vulnerability and self-belief and without a sense of belonging, you cannot access any of these. What do you think? Could a sense of belonging be key to being able to accessing an education? #Education #BreneBrown #EHCP #School (Image description: a white background with a bright green splodge. In the splodge is a white box with the quote ‘A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don’t function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick.’)

  • Did you know that appeals being registered now are getting hearing dates for November 2025? This is why it’s more important now than ever to be getting your appeal lodged as soon as you see that it’s likely to be required. Lodging the appeal doesn’t mean the work stops - the aim is always to work together to resolve the situation before hearing. But by lodging the appeal, you’re protected by legal deadlines that ensure your case continues to move and progress. It helps to keep the pressure on to find a suitable solution. If you’re not happy with your child’s education, get in touch and see how we can help. #EHCP #School #Appeal #Tribunal (Image description: a light green circle inside a mid-green square. • We’ve had a fab week (or so), getting some of our appeals resolved prior to hearing. Did you know that over 80% of the appeals we manage get settled prior to hearing? We had a complex appeal settled where the Local Authority agreed to name an independent special school with full OT and SALT provision, and transport. We also had a ‘No to Issue EHCP’ decision get overturned, meaning another hurdle crossed without the need for hearing. But we’ve also had success outside of our appeal cases - we managed to work with a school to agree funding for alternative provision, whilst we submit the EHC Needs Assessment Request for a young man who can’t attend school. It’ll be a long journey for this family but getting some financial support from school is an important first step. So that’s what we’ve been up to! How about you? What are your wins? #EHCP #School #Inclusion #Appeal #Education

  • It’s been a while - so let’s reintroduce ourselves. We’re Succeeding with SEN - we’re a special educational needs consultancy. What does that mean? It means we help parents and carers of children/young people who have additional needs to get the support they require to thrive in their education. How do we do this? By providing support with: School support Complaints Transport EHCNAs EHCPs Mediations Appeals And much more… Not sure if you need our help? Pop us a message and we’ll arrange a free, 15 minute call with you to talk things through. #EHCP #School #SEND #Disability (Image description: green background with our logo top left, with a picture of the team in a green circle next to it, at the bottom it says ‘get in touch’ with our website, to the right it says ‘SEN consultancy’ and then lists the ways we can help.)

  • How can the SEND Code of Practice help get your private reports included in your child’s ehcp? Section 9.46 - the Local Authority must gather advice ‘from relevant professionals’ - not just their own professionals! Section 9.54 - the Local Authority should consider all information both during the EHCNA AND before the EHCNA. Section 9.69 - if the Local Authority doesn’t use a professional’s advice, they should give reasons for this. You can quote these in emails or formal complaints to help make sure the professionals you’ve commissioned aren’t unlawfully ignored. #EHCP #Education #SEND #Inclusion

  • What a bittersweet weekend! The team finally managed to be in the same place at the same time, so that we could say bye to our beloved Milly! 😢 Since January, Milly has turned the internals of the business around, and got us set up to continue our work in a more efficient way, allowing us to focus more of our time on the families we support. Milly’s work has been integral to our success and we could not be more grateful, but now she is ready to take on the next challenge of helping to open a new climbing centre! 😱 Milly, you are amazing! Thank you for all the spreadsheets and patience you’ve given us all, you will forever be an honorary member of our team. #SEND #EHCP #EmployeeOfTheYear (Image description: our team stood in the garden smiling / squinting from the sun!)

  • Wow, have we been busy! Just some of the great successes we’ve had this week: ‘No to Issue EHCP’ Appeal overturned 3 weeks before hearing All absences now marked as authorised - a huge relief for one very worried family EHC Needs Assessment agreed first time We have also heard from so many of our lovely families about their positive starts to the school term. We know this isn’t the same for everyone and we’ll continue on with our mission to change that 💪 How’s your week been? #EHCP #School #Wins

  • It’s that time of year again! Our furthest hearing date we’ve been given is 10th of October 2025!!! 😱 But don’t worry, we’ve got a wealth of experience in getting hearings moved forward - the key is about timing it right so that it works in your favour. Don’t request to move it until you know you’re absolutely ready! #EHCP #Tribunal #SEND #School (Image description - a hand holding up a baby blue diary which says ‘2025, Jes’ diary’)
