At Successfactory we often get asked if we are running open programmes for leaders who have an individual need, or someone who has just joined the business and missed out on one of our leadership journey's. Or perhaps a small organisation looking for development for just a couple of managers. We've embrace this need for 2025 and I'm delighted to say we have three workshops available initially, with more to follow. The initial workshops are focussed on Building and Maintaining High Performing Teams with Dave Dayman BSc (Hons) based on his Team Foundations book, and Running Effective Meetings with Martin Peterson based on No More Bored Rooms. These are available as a 1 day face to face workshop at various locations around the UK, and there is an online version available too. There is also a 2 day LIFO Practitioner Licensing workshop, again run by Martin Peterson. The workshops will share of our tried, tested and proven tools and frameworks based on our New World Curriculum. The real practical stuff that our clients love us for! We will also be running workshops on Leadership, ChangePro and Resilience later in the year. You can find out more by clicking the link in the comments. Hope to see you there... An interesting question came up on a training forum recently - this was it: You're struggling to cut down on training expenses. How can you maintain quality without breaking the bank? Sound familiar? This was my response (within the 750 character limit - I could have put so much more): Pick the right provider! Create a mix of internal & external training. It is always good to get an outside perspective of things so don't negate external training (I know it costs - but good things usually do). External providers also (usually) have the advantage of not being involved in the organisation's politics. The right provider will work with you to expand your own, internal development offering & after a while you can release the grip from external & move to more internal. Repeat the process every so often to get a fresh perspective & new ideas. Do not think that because the budget has been cut that training & development should suffer. It is the most vital thing an organisation has for its long-term stability & ability to grow. Why is it when budgets are cut some organisations cut the one thing that can definitely help them long-term. Just be savvy about how you spend your money (and on which provider). What are your thoughts?

Some useful questions to think about.
Is your vision compelling? As one of the key ingredients to a high performing culture your vision needs to be realistic, impactful and underpinned by a set of principles/values. Try answering the following questions (perhaps do it as a team). Identify an organisation who you believe has a compelling vision. If you don’t know what their vision is, just Google it. (You may be thinking at this stage “why don’t I just look at Google). Take a look at what their vision says and then ask yourself what kind of business are they “really” in? What is it about their vision that stands out for you? What does the vision say about the organisation’s ambition and reason for existing? What do you think this compelling vision creates for its employees, customers and shareholders? Now try this. Create an alternative vision statement for your business. Use a few paragraphs to explain to your colleagues and customers, what your business is about and what your mission is (if it is more than a page – it’s too complicated). You might even want to use a picture as a means of visually representing your thoughts. Underlying a vision there is generally a set of principles or values that guide you in achieving it. So now, identify an organisation you believe ‘lives by’ a set of values and behaviours that are instantly recognisable. If you don’t know what the stated values are then just use the ubiquitous Google again. What do these values say about the organisation? What do you think it would be like to work there? Would you be a customer? If so, why?
