Earlier this month, our sustainability coordinator Ben attended the Co-operatives UK, Co-op retail conference over in Nottingham. He sat on the panel, hosted by Laura Adams (Grain Sustainability), alongside Pete Westall (The Midcounties Co-operative), Jeremy Cox (Coventry Building Society), Tanya Noon (Central Co-op) and Russell Gill (Co-op). The session discussed the power of co-operatives in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals - as ever more relevant now it’s the UN International Year of Co-operatives! Ben says: "It was a pleasure to speak to an audience full of other great co-ops on the ways co-operatives can work towards fulfilling the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The co-operative movement is very aligned with the principles of the global goals and it was pleasing to hear how other co-ops are making progress and aligning their strategies with the SDGs." You can check out what we’re doing in our sustainability strategy here www.suma./coop/sustainability. ~

This International Women’s Day, let’s #AccelerateAction 💜 Menopause and menstruation impact millions, yet conversations around them are still too often met with silence. By shining a light on these topics, we create a workplace - and a world - where people feel seen, supported and understood. At Suma, we believe this isn’t just the right thing to do - it’s essential and demonstrates our continued commitment to gender equity. That’s why we’ve co-created a Menstruation & Menopause Policy - not just to foster a menopause-friendly workplace, but to ensure everyone can thrive. Supporting people through these transitions means retaining experienced talent, enabling open conversations and empowering colleagues, teams and partners. Together, let’s build a future where no one feels they have to go through it alone. 🌍💜 #IWD2025 #MenopauseMatters #GenderEquality
