Day 1 at EATS has been a treat! The team have split up between the conference streams which they say have been very notable and insightful. We have also had a lot of interest in the demo stations with people having a go at our coordination and control test! And just look at our new stand! A huge congratulations to Symbiotics Aviation Psychologist Emma Akhurst CPsychol on obtaining her EuroPsy (European Certificate in Psychology)!! The EuroPsy is a European standard of education, professional training and competence in psychology set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA). ‘The Basic EuroPsy Certificate presents a benchmark for independent practice as a psychologist that can be issued to a psychologist who has demonstrated that they have met these standards. There is a Register of EuroPsy psychologists with national listings of certificate holders that can be consulted by any person or organisation seeking the services of a qualified psychologist. Through the EuroPsy, EFPA encourages and promotes psychologists to obtain continuing and specialized education throughout Europe. EuroPsy is not a license to practice in a particular country, but a European qualification that complements national standards.   How does EuroPsy protect consumers? EuroPsy gives consumers clear and easy-to-access information about qualified psychologists. It ensures that psychologists have the proper training and experience. FAST (Future Aptitude Selection Tool) is designed to measure a candidates ability to manage a dynamic environment and tests a candidates' multitasking, learning, cognitive, situational awareness and physical skills. Designed by our Psychologists, FAST takes around 15 minutes to complete and places the candidate in an ever-increasingly stressful situation to determine how well they can function as the number and intensity of overlapping tasks increase. The test determines how well a candidate can prioritise tasks, manage multiple activities and learn from each flight scenario to improve their overall performance. FAST can be used at all levels and is excellent at filtering a large number of candidates down to identify those with natural aptitude for ab-initio training. EASA.CAT.GEN.MPA. 175 (b) is a regulation set by EASA that has been in effect since 14th February 2021. The regulation calls for airlines to ensure all Pilots receive a psychometric evaluation within 24 months of employment and in advance of commencing line flying. This evaluation must be overseen by a psychologist with at least 3 year’s aviation experience and with expertise in psychological assessment. Symbiotics can support commercial air operators by applying considerable experience and expertise in the assessment of pilots, to assist with meeting the regulation. We recommend our online test battery for the recruitment of direct entry pilot candidates that complies with the EASA regulation and includes ADAPT assessments such as Advanced Personality Questionnaire, Crew Resource Management, Cognitive Reasoning and FAST (Future Assessment Selection Tool).
