Tech4Good South West
Civic and Social Organizations
Addressing technology response to societal & environmental issues and debate unintended consequences of the digital age
About us
Across the globe, technology is increasingly being harnessed ‘for good’ – to create new, positive social and environmental impact, and tackle injustice and inequality. With the invention of new devices or equipment, development of transformative software, adopting AI and machine learning, acting on insights from big data, and working to protect people and organisations from the proliferating cyber threat. Tech4Good South West is an initiative to help more of this ‘for good’ happen. We convene and bring together tech businesses with the charitable and voluntary sector, and organisations from the public sector (including local government, education, health and the NHS) to share ways in which technology is needed – with others who have tech skills or resources to offer. We have a commitment to harness technology to transform societies, communities and lives. Tech4Good South West is a network committed to tech for good and the power of digital innovation to bridge gaps and foster inclusion, ensuring that everyone has equal opportunities to connect, function and thrive in society. We convene and create the space for the community to collaborate, learn, and actively contribute to improving the welfare of our communities. - A space for tech businesses to have opportunities to put tech skills to use and create new social or environmental value. - Charitable and voluntary sector organisations have a community to reach out for help that you may not have within your own organisation, or be inspired around what tech can do for you and the communities you support. - For the public sector to explore innovative tech-centred ways to support local citizens and communities, perhaps in further new partnerships with the private and third sectors. By working together we can share best practice, support one another, and ensure our initiatives thrive.
