What is the ADHD Burnout Cycle? People with ADHD are more likely to experience burnout in the workplace, which can be difficult to recover from. Some of the examples of ADHD Burnout include: 1: Hyperfixation: Excitement at starting a new task, job or project. Hyperfixation can lead to setting unrealistic output expectations. 2: Stress: Pressure in maintaining the level of output, which leads to stress and can make focusing more difficult. 3: Poor Coping Mechanisms: Frustration can lead to poor coping mechanisms, making ADHD traits more difficult to manage. 4: Burnout: Increased levels of overwhelm and exhaustion can lead to burnout. The Autism Service
Mental Health Care
Private assessment and diagnosis for children and adults with autism.
About us
The Autism Service is a private assessment and intervention service for children and adults with – or who are suspected of having – Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It was set up in response to feedback from service users about gaps in care, alongside a psychologist’s wish to get things right for this group. The service consists of healthcare professionals who are experienced in working with ASD. They are trained in and knowledgeable about all areas of development, and in completing diagnostic assessments. This requires a high level of specialist skill that is often not readily available. The practice of each clinician is regulated by an independent body, which means the public can be confident about the standard of care provided. The Autism Service aims to provide assessments that are high quality, reliable and helpful and interventions that support children and adults with ASD to achieve their potential in terms of their development and mental health.

FAQ: Who can diagnose autism in the UK? In the UK, autism assessments should be carried out by suitably qualified and experienced healthcare professionals. Typically, an assessment will be multidisciplinary, meaning there is more than one clinician involved and that the clinicians vary in their professional training, and will have psychology, psychiatry or paediatrician input. For more information about our assessments, see our services. https://bit.ly/3wYblKt #AutismAssessment #clinicalpractice

Self-diagnosis of ADHD can increase your risk of misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Many conditions have similar symptoms to ADHD, such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. By choosing a self-diagnosis rather than a professional evaluation, there is a high chance you could mistake one condition for another. The National Institute of Mental Health has reported on a study that used a tablet based screening tool for enhanced early autism detection. Dr Lisa Williams said "I'm pro anything that increases the accuracy of our work. Objective, digital measures are already leading the way in ADHD diagnosis, with the use of technology, such as that by Qbtech. When used alongside other robust assessment methods, such as interview and observation, these tools are capable of strengthening and improving patient care" Read more in the article: https://bit.ly/4bjrYhP #diagnosticpathways #autismdiagnosis #autismassessment

Dr Laurent Mottron said: “The objective difference between people with autism and the general population will disappear in less than 10 years. The definition of autism may get too vague to be meaningful.” This statement concerns the widening of diagnostic criteria to a point where everyone is diagnosed some sort of neurodiversity, which can invalidate the experience of people who require a higher level of support.
