I spent years feeling uncomfortable in my own skin, judging myself for my choices. Then, I discovered what had been driving me all along – and it transformed my entire relationship with myself. What surprised me the most was that 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 was suddenly replaced by 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. I never expected that understanding my past would lead to such deep acceptance of who I am. 🤍 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣? The other day, a podcast host, the fabulous Ryan Hartley, asked me what writing my memoir taught me about myself. I get this question a lot, and I usually laugh: “Writing memoir is like intense therapy without a therapist.” (Actually, I did have one. You need support when you're diving that deep.) In my last post, I wrote about part of my Winning Formula – always striving for perfection, always pushing for more – and how that got me the attention, appreciation, and acceptance I needed. But writing my memoir revealed an even deeper force that had shaped almost every choice I'd made – 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲' 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲. [I won't spoil the story – it's in 𝑼𝑵𝑪𝑨𝑮𝑬𝑫 – but let's just say it changed everything.] What I learned from all this: 🌿 Seeking to UNDERSTAND is much more powerful than being harsh to yourself when it comes to transformation. 🌿 Once you understand your patterns, you can change them. Once you see your cages, you can dismantle them. 🌿 It’s easier to take down your cages with LOVE and COMPASSION rather than cruelty. I dive deeper into this journey of self-discovery in my recent conversation with Ryan on the Always Better than Yesterday podcast. We explore: 🪽 How our cages are created in our minds 🪽 Why understanding our motives leads to compassion 🪽 The power of questioning our early patterns And much more. 🎧 Listen to the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/exq4XnbK 📚 Dive deeper in 𝑼𝑵𝑪𝑨𝑮𝑬𝑫: [Links in my ‘featured’ section] 📬 And if you missed Monday’s post about Winning Formulas, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eTV5bXvD ➡️ 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣? #HeartCenteredLeadership #LifeLessons #UncagedMemoir
