🎂 The C Collective is 5 years old this month! This is our anniversary as much as yours – our dear clients, partners, past and present team members - so let’s celebrate! 🌱 Five years ago, The C Collective seed was planted by Marie Geneste, Alessandro Mele and Alexandra Mele. Like any young organism, we faced challenges and uncertainties, but with unwavering determination, we nurtured our growth in the forest of impact innovation. People have come and gone, their contributions leaving an indelible mark on our journey. Some have weathered the storms with us, while others have moved on to explore new horizons. But through it all, our roots have grown deeper and stronger, anchoring us firmly in the ground. Just as a young tree’s roots intertwine with the surrounding soil, we have connected with the rest of our ecosystem through a network of partnerships and collaborations. Like mycelium, our connections have allowed us to take and give back to mission-driven entrepreneurs, fellow enablers, non-profits and experts longing to put their skills at the service of people & planet. 🌳 While we have grown some leaves, we are still a relatively small tree, working in the shadows of larger, more established players. But our size does not define our impact. We are flexible and resilient, adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the metacrisis risk and opportunities.  We aspire to inspire others through environmental awareness services and our own activism. To celebrate our fifth anniversary, we have invested some time to revitalize our own brand – thanks to Florença Fantinel and Joe Collingwood. This rejuvenation reflects our unwavering commitment to people and planet-centered #design and #marketing, as well as our expanding reach to support traditional businesses on their #regenerative transformation journey. As we reflect on our journey with gratitude and optimism for the future, the words of Margaret Mead resonate deeply. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." 🦾 The C Collective is a testament to this. Our team and ecosystem of clients, partners or activists have proven that even the smallest of actions can have a profound impact. As we continue to grow and evolve, we remain committed to being part of the change we seek in the world. 🥂 So here’s to all of us! 😲 Human activity has wiped out 73% of animals in 50 years according to WWF Living Planet Index. Habitat loss, overexploitation, #climatechange, pollution (#pesticides in particular), and invasive species are the five main drivers of this #biodiversitycollapse. This is not only wildlife collapsing, it's the life supporting systems of human life. 🦾 A lot of these factors are driven by our industrial food systems, so it's time to take action! One of the most important thing you can do is invest your time & money in more wholesome, plant-based and organic food. This will also have positive impact on your health. 📚 If you want to learn more about the biodiversity crisis, how it's interconnected with the Climate crisis, join one of our Biodiversity Collage UK workshops (info in comments).

37 years ago, the #MontrealProtocol was agreed to deal with ozone-depleting substances. It remains the most impactful global environmental treaty ever agreed and enforced.

Scaling positive impact solutions with great Design & Marketing I Environmental activist & educator

🤝 On Sept 16th 1987*, one of the most impactful global environmental treaties was agreed by more than 200 countries, the #Montrealprotocol on Substances That Deplete the Ozone Layer. Few people know about it but it’s the greatest example of how, following a warning from scientists, governments and industry listened and, most importantly, acted at the international level. 🌍 In 1974, Rowland and Molina published a paper on human-generated CFCs harming the ozone layer and in 1985 Antarctic Survey Scientists revealed the existential threat of the Antarctic ozone hole. Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan stated that it was "perhaps the single most successful international agreement to date". WHY? ⏳ It took only 2 years from the Antarctic ozone hole discovery to the agreement. This is an amazingly fast policy-making process. Imagine if we had acted on climate change in this type of time frame. In 1967, we already had modeled Earth’s changing climate, in 1972s, the Limits of Growth were published, and in 1990 the 1st IPCC Assessment Report (FAR) was released... 🔻 It was a fairly top-down regulatory framework with scientists, governments and industry working together under the leadership of a US republican government! 📣 There was some public awareness but certainly not global climate protests of the magnitude we see these days. 📉 It was enforced and led to the phase-out of 98.6% of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and a significant decrease in related emissions (both ozone depleting and climate warming), leading to some recovery of the ozone layer and hopefully a complete regeneration by 2050. That’s why The Montreal protocol gives me mixed feelings – 🤗 HOPE that ambitious environmental policies can be agreed and enforced at speed and scale… 😡 FRUSTRATION that governments and industry are failing to deal with the other 8 planetary boundaries overshoot threatening our life-supporting systems. 🗯 How do YOU feel about this? *September 16th is now the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer established by the United Nations Video credit > Yale Environment 360

Minimalism is not just a design trend, it's a necessity. Letting go of some design elements to go back to the core product function can be liberating and bring about economic, social and environmental benefits. Here are 3 great design examples that show LESS IS MORE. 🥫 Yeo Valley Organic removed single-use lids from their yogurt packaging to save 145 tonnes of plastic a year 🔪 Beautiful, space and material saving knife set from Delgon 🛒 itsu redesigned their food order and collection system. They are giving you food just in their containers. Carrier bags, cutlery and sauces are available if you really want them, therefore making no bag the default option. Because when you think about, it's humanly possible to bring your own bag, or just carry a couple of food items with your two hands! Remember, waste is a #design issue, so it can be fixed.

Interesting to learn what the next IPCC reports will focus on: 🔥 Short-lived climate forcers (SLCFs) > Aerosols and pollutants warming our climate and often also air pollutants, with atmospheric lifetimes typically shorter than two decades. Aerosols (sulphate, nitrate, ammonium, carbonaceous aerosols, mineral dust and sea spray), which are also called particulate matter (PM), and chemically reactive gases (methane, ozone, some halogenated compounds, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, non-methane volatile organic compounds, sulphur dioxide and ammonia). 🏙 Climate Change and #Cities > the mitigation and adaptation actions from cities, how to facilitate and accelerate change in cities, and solutions by city and types and regions. Get in touch if you want to understand the previous IPCC reports on causes and effects of climate change through our Climate Fresk UK workshops > https://lnkd.in/euFa3uR3

If you’re building a #B2B venture with #netpositiveimpact at its core, marketing will be instrumental to your success. Here are some key tips! 💚 DO: Go beyond green through user research: Uncover what truly motivates your customers besides sustainability intentions. Design for people and planet: User-centered design approaches ensure your product solves problems flawlessly, from the very first version (MVP). Get organised for growth: Implement CRM and sales pipelines early. Choose your first customers and partners carefully to ensure brand alignment (do you really want to do your first pilot with a fossil fuel company?). Harness the power of authentic personal branding: Founders, you need to put some skin in the game as early as possible, let your vision and passion shine. Impact, not jargon: Communicate your positive environmental impact in a way everyone understands. Not everyone gets excited by TCO2eq! Get ready to surf the regulatory wave: Chances are your prospects are struggling to keep up with constantly evolving Environmental Regulation. Help them navigate and comply with them. 🔴 DON'T: Don’t go all in on sustainability related USPs: Highlight the unique value proposition of your product, beyond its sustainability aspects. Chances you’ll also have to sell to a buying circle that includes decision makers focused on cost savings, compliance or operational considerations. Don’t base all your marketing plans on your product roadmap. Product milestones are likely to shift, so plan some marketing and sales activities that can be delivered independently from your product milestones. Don't wait for a perfect product to lead the conversation. Share your sustainability journey and expertise through thought leadership even if your product is not ready! Don’t overlook the importance of #branding – while a brand that overpromises in terms of sustainability can be seen as greenwashing, a truly sustainable venture with an uninspiring branding is a missed opportunity for impact. https://lnkd.in/estu9Urm
