In this short interview, Carl shares his insights on teaching, learning and what makes The Data School unique. ✨What do you find most rewarding about your job? Carl. Data skills are a massive enabler in fixing some of the hardest challenges we face as organisations and society. As someone from a history and politics background, I know how hard it can be to learn some of these skills and techniques. I love helping people learn these skills without having to make as many mistakes as I did. ✨What is your teaching philosophy? Carl. The ‘people’ bit of people development is key. We call ourselves coaches because we are helping individuals develop and grow. There is no one single approach that works for everyone as each person brings a different set of skills, experience and capabilities. Adapting your approach to the individual is key in helping people get the most out of the opportunity we offer. ✨Why do you think our no-CV approach benefits our clients? Carl. By not looking at CVs, we look at the skills and talent someone has rather than just looking at whether they have done this work before. This gives us a more diverse pool of people, leading to a more diverse set of opinions, experiences and backgrounds for our clients to leverage when forming solutions.
