Who’s at fault for a lack of on street charging in the UK? Throughout 2024, we have been promised on street charging across the UK, using funding such as the LEVI programme, or the On Street Residential Scheme. But, we are still yet to see any significant in roads. Procurement is a mess, with charge point operators constantly challenging awards to competitors. The Oxford DPS has legal challenges meaning concession contracts aren’t being accepted until further notice. Councils will not take any risk, and they are under resourced. Charge point operators are able to fully fund large scale projects, but are held back by lack of risk and red tape. The government hasn’t support in any way, in making the process simpler. So we are still stuck with a severe lack of charging for people living in terraced houses and apartments. Unless something changes, we are going to be left red faced. #electriccar #electricvehicle #evcharging #onstreetcharging #netzero #sustainability

Global EV sales up over 30% in September ⚡️ Despite us constantly being told that EV sales are plummeting, that the EV market has collapsed and that EV’s are the future, we have seen yet another record month of sales, and the highest private sales in 2024. The figure does however include all plug in variants. Europe is back on the growth track, while China has set new records, achieving a remarkable 47.9% increase in sales compared to August, totaling 1.12 million units. Despite facing a 45% tariff in the EU, Chinese manufacturers are actively pushing for sales in this key market. According to Rho Motion, worldwide sales of BEV’s and PHEV’s reached 1.69 million units last month. The momentum in the EV sector continues to build. #ev #electriccar #electricvehicle #evcharging #netzero #sustainability #motortrafe

Jim Farley drives a Xiaomi SU7 ⚡ In a recent episode of "The Fully Charged Podcast," Farley shared his enthusiasm for driving Xiaomi's first electric vehicle, the SU7. He expressed, “I don’t want to give it up!” After having flown one from Shanghai to Chicago, he's been behind the wheel for six months, highlighting its impressive sales success, 10,000 to 20,000 units sold monthly and sold out for six months Farley noted, “This is an industry juggernaut and a consumer brand that is much stronger than car companies,” underscoring the competitive landscape in the EV market. However, it’s worth noting that while Xiaomi is making waves, its EV branch reported a significant loss of $252 million last quarter, with a focus on reducing production costs moving forward, and most of those losses being in R&D. As the automotive industry evolves, Farley and Ford clearly recognise the “existential threat” posed by Chinese automakers, emphasising the need for strategic adaptations in the face of fierce competition. #ford #ev #electriccar #electricvehicle #evcharging #netzero #sustainability #tesla #xiaomi

Tesla chargers may damage Ford EV’s ⚡️ Ford has issued a warning to its electric vehicle customers regarding the use of Tesla's Supercharger network. Although Ford became the first automaker to access Tesla’s extensive charging infrastructure back in February 2024, the company is now advising against using certain adapters, which may pose a risk of damage to your vehicle. In a recent communication, Ford stated that the initially supplied adapters may not be suitable and will be replaced at no cost. It's crucial for owners to update their address in the Ford Pass app by October 24 to ensure they receive the new adapter promptly, starting the week of October 28. While Ford has not provided specific details about the potential damage, they caution that using the current adapters could affect long-term charging speeds. This update serves as a reminder to all Ford EV owners to stay informed and prioritize the safety and performance of their vehicles. For more information, refer to your email from Ford or check your Ford Pass account. #ford #tesla #supercharger #evcharging #electriccar #electricvehicle #netzero #sustainability

EV battery price set to halve by 2026 ⚡️ According to Goldman Sachs Research, battery prices are projected to drop nearly 50% by 2026, reaching around $80 per kilowatt-hour. This decline follows advancements in technology that enhance energy density and a decrease in the prices of key materials like lithium and cobalt, making up about 60% of battery costs. The global average price has already decreased from $153 per kWh in 2022 to an expected $111 by the end of this year. These changes could enable battery electric vehicles to reach cost parity with ICE cars, paving the way for broader consumer adoption. Additionally, the future looks promising with innovations like solid-state batteries on the horizon, which could further revolutionise the market, with improved safety and energy density. What do you think? Where does the price of batteries need to be? #electriccar #electricvehicle #batteries #evbattery #ev #evcharging #netzero #sustainability #greenerfuture

Record EV Sales in USA 🇺🇸⚡️ Have we seen the turning point for electric vehicles in the USA? In the third quarter of 2024, U.S. EV sales reached an all-time high, fueled by attractive financing options and a growing demand for affordable models. According to Cox Automotive, automakers sold an estimated 346,309 EVs, marking a 5% increase from the previous quarter. This surge has propelled EV’s to account for 8.9% of total auto sales, the highest percentage ever recorded, up from 7.8% a year ago. General Motors has officially surpassed Hyundai Motor Group, becoming America’s second-best-selling EV maker, with deliveries increasing 60% year-over-year. The Equinox EV led GM's sales with 9,772 units sold in Q3. Tesla remains the frontrunner, with sales rebounding thanks to the new Cybertruck and a refreshed Model 3. The Cybertruck is now the third-best-selling EV in the U.S., with 16,692 units sold. Honda's Prologue EV sold 12,644 units, showcasing a promising future for the brand in the electric landscape. Despite the political discussions surrounding EVs and some negative headlines, this quarter has highlighted the resilience and potential of the EV market. Analysts at Cox Automotive note that with improving infrastructure and a wider range of choices, reaching a 10% market share is well within grasp. A significant portion of this growth can be attributed to leasing deals, which accounted for 42.7% of all EV sales. This trend reflects a shift in consumer behavior, as buyers are increasingly turning to leasing for more accessible entry points into EV ownership. As we look ahead, the landscape remains dynamic. While GM and Hyundai vie for the title of the leading non-Tesla EV brand, the overall market is poised for further growth. With new models on the horizon and ongoing infrastructure improvements, like the addition of 1,000 new chargers weekly, adoption rates are expected to rise. Isn’t it funny how quickly things change? It was only a few weeks ago that every single media outlet was pushing the “EV sales slump” narrative. #electriccar #usa #ev #tesla #electricvehicle #netzero #sustainability #greenerfuture #electrification #electrifyeverything

Uber boss encouraging customers to wait longer for an electric car ⚡️ But there’s a twist… CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, recently encouraged passengers to wait a few extra minutes for an electric vehicle when using the service. The reason? Despite the slightly longer wait times in some areas, Khosrowshahi believes the shift to EV’s benefits the environment. He’s urging more customers to make the switch, aligning with the company's goal of electrifying it’s entire fleet by 2040. Conveniently though, Uber actually makes more profit when riders choose an EV. Governments should also step up, Khosrowshahi adds, by supporting the adoption of EV’s, particularly for high-mileage drivers like those on Uber’s platform. #uber #ev #electriccar #electricvehicle #netzero #sustainability #greenerfuture #taxi
