Important and exciting times ahead! 🌍🌱 Recently we brought together some partners from across the UK retail and investment sectors to ask “what comes next?” in a workshop focused on how Fairtrade support partnerships that mitigate climate change and build resilient supply chains. 💚🤝 Together we explored the climate challenges businesses face in their supply chains and discussed the opportunities to collaborate on solutions. We look forward to continuing our work developing impactful partnerships that support businesses to meet their environmental and social sustainability goals. Robyn Cooper from SAI Platform attended the day, saying: ‘It was hugely valuable for Fairtrade to gather together a unique mix of stakeholders, from retailers and supply chain actors to financiers, all with the aim of exploring opportunities for multi-stakeholder collaboration. By coming to the table with our different challenges and areas of expertise, we were able to clarify where the barriers to actualising this collaboration lie. From this, the most effective levers for action can be identified. For me, context specificity, co-creation with farmers, and finding partners equally as ready to commit, emerged as key ingredients to bringing these initiatives to life!’ Interested in learning more about how you could partner with us? 🌿 Without biodiversity there would be no farming, no trade, no food. 🌎 What role does trade play in protecting it? That’s being discussed at #COP16 today. 👩🌾👨🌾 We want to preserve biodiversity through agroecology. Many Fairtrade producers have adopted it, applying ecological and social principles to farming. ⚖️ To make the world’s food systems sustainable, producers must be able to sell on fair terms and receive prices that enable sustainable livelihoods. 👨⚖️ Policy makers must make sure that protecting biodiversity pays off and destroying it has a price, that large companies report on biodiversity, and they share the cost of protecting biodiversity with farmers. 🤝For Fairtrade it's simple: Trading to solely maximise profits is the problem, trading in a way that respects people and planet is part of the solution. This week we had the pleasure of joining @ETP’s #KenyaTeaForum! Joseph Cameron Booth, our Senior Innovation and Partnership Development Manager, participated in a panel exploring the importance of certification while companies are seeing increased compliance obligations. He says: ‘A robust premium model ensures that producers can continue generating the data businesses need to meet compliance obligations and manage risk.’ #ChooseFairtrade #Fairtrade #Tea

Ever thought about the long-term relationships between Fairtrade coffee farmers and your favourite cup of coffee? ☕❤️ Cafédirect Group have. They’ve been buying quality coffee from co-operatives like Silvia’s for decades. The security of having a trusted, committed business partner like Cafédirect means that farmers like Silvia can invest in producing the highest quality coffee for us to enjoy. Silvia Herrera is a Fairtrade coffee farmer and manager from Unión de Ejidos y Comunidades San Fernando co-operative in Mexico. She came to the UK earlier this year to share her experiences of being part of Fairtrade and showed us the expertise and passion that goes into cupping a great cup of coffee. It’s clear to see why she’s won so many coffee awards …☕ Want to take a sip of Silvia’s coffee? Try Cafédirect's Mayan Gold! #choosefairtrade #coffee #cuppingcoffee #fairtrade #cafedirect #coffeelovers #ethicalcoffee #coffeetime

It's a big week for us at HQ... After months of graft (and a lot of coffee, obviously), Grumpy Mule's brand-new look has officially landed in Waitrose. And trust us, it’s worth the wait. We’ve kept that bold, in-your-face flavour you love, and made it even easier to make café-quality brews at home. Whether you’re after a killer single origin or one of our punchy blends (coming soon), we’ve got a roast to suit every taste. The team couldn’t be more buzzing to see it on shelves – we’ve been long excited for this refresh since Grumpy Mule became part of the Cafédirect family last year. Same amazing coffee and now 100% Fairtrade. Well done team! So, next time you’re in Waitrose, keep an eye out for the Mule. You won’t regret it. Waitrose & Partners The Fairtrade Foundation

What’s the secret behind quality coffee that not only taste good, but does good? Fairtrade coffee is produced with great skill, care and attention by award-winning farmers who pour their hearts into every bean. Every sip you take is the result of their hard work and commitment to delivering top-quality, flavour-packed coffee that also supports people and the planet. We shone the spotlight on three of our 2024 Golden Cup winners to hear what each of them have to say about how they deliver quality in every cup. For professional coffee cupper, Mario Ernesto Paz, and Golden Cup winner from Cafico in Honduras, crafting the ideal blend is a true art form - dedication, passion, and a commitment to quality go into every bean, just like an artist creating a masterpiece. 🎨 What exactly is the Golden Cup? It’s Fairtrade’s annual competition, where coffee producers from 10 countries go head-to-head, showcasing the best specialty coffees – the highest quality of coffee – across aroma, flavour, and quality. Choose Fairtrade and support a future where every cup you drink helps build stronger, more sustainable communities. 🌱☕️ #futureisfair #ChooseFairtrade #coffee #ukcoffeeweek #bethechange Video footage by Sean Hawkey Photography | Video produced by Der Tisch - Communications & Design Studio for Fairtrade International.
