IN THE NEWS: New Mapping Tool Offers Data on Textile Waste Hotspots Sustainability platform Fashion for Good is launching a tool to map textile waste hotspots globally. Called World of Waste, the goal is to enable recyclers to identify textile waste that can be transformed into new material, and to bring circular fashion closer to reality. The idea sprang from a realisation that, for all of fashion’s focus on reducing and repurposing waste and on increasing recycling, there was no visible effort to create a macro view of where textile waste is actually accumulating. If a recycler needs a certain feedstock to scale its technology or is looking to launch a production facility in a new region, there is currently no database or platform they can turn to, to find that information. “Visibility into textile waste on a global level is essential for us. Knowing waste volumes and composition in the key countries allows us to guide our geographical focus regarding feedstock partnerships and production location choices,” says Shay Sethi, CEO of textile recycling startup Ambercycle. Thoughts? Could this be a key aid in tackling the textile waste issue? 🤔 💡 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eFY2nTq5 #Fashion #Sustainability #FashionTech #Innovation #News #Latest

POLL: Is it Time to Ditch the Discount War? 🤔 Discounting has become a staple strategy for brands and retailers, with clearance culture often seen as the go-to solution for excess inventory. But could this reliance on markdowns be doing more harm than good? Despite the many benefits of discounting, when brands compete on price alone, they risk getting pulled into a ‘race to the bottom’ where continual price cuts erode profit margins and potentially compromise brand value. In a market where consumers expect constant deals, is it realistic for brands to move away from discounting? 💭 Let us know your thoughts! #Fashion #Strategy #Retail #Business #Commerce #Insight #Discussion

TFN Spotted: Coperni Paris Unveils 3D-Printed Ariel Swipe Bag at SS25 Show in Disneyland Paris For its SS25 collection, Coperni Paris took innovation to new depths with a 3D-printed Ariel Swipe Bag, introduced at Disneyland Paris. Known for pushing design boundaries, Coperni previously stunned with a Swipe Bag made from NASA’s silica aerogel—composed of 99% air. Using recyclable silicone, the bag was printed in a water-based gel, offering a mesmerizing reveal of the underwater-inspired design. Set against Disneyland’s iconic backdrop, it’s a fitting tribute to the mermaid theme and a highlight of Coperni’s ever-evolving approach to technology in fashion. TFN INSIGHTS: 3 Key Benefits of Headless Commerce for Fashion Brands! Our fashion Ecommerce summit 2 weeks back with The Ecommerce Club , looked into headless commerce on an interesting panel with Brad Houldsworth from Remarkable Commerce. We discovered some insightful takeaways and the knowledge that Headless commerce isn’t right for everyone - but for some it’s definitely the way to go! Here are 3 benefits of the approach that we took away from the session…. 1. Increased Site Speed With headless commerce, brands can deliver lightning-fast site performance. By decoupling the frontend from the backend, brands can ensure a seamless shopping experience. Faster load times not only enhance user satisfaction but can also improve search engine rankings, driving more traffic to your site. 2. Quick integrations due to APIs The API-driven structure enables easy integration with various tools and platforms, allowing brands to quickly adopt new technologies without overhauling their systems, keeping them competitive in the fast-paced fashion market. 3. Helps with Technical Headaches of Setting Up Ecomm Headless commerce simplifies the ecommerce setup, brands can focus on creating an engaging customer journey without being bogged down by technical constraints. It also not only streamlines development but also allows for easier updates and scalability as business needs grow. Have you considered headless commerce for your business? Are you for or against? TFN SPOTTED: Lacoste Onboards AI into Anti-Counterfeit Strategy Luxury sports brand Lacoste is upping its counterfeiting measures by tapping into artificial intelligence The label is the first to test Vrai AI, a new technology from French Company Cypheme that uses AI to detect fake products using visual analysis. The company reports a 99.7% rate of accuracy, making it a possible game-changer for the industry. By taking a photo of a specific detail on an item, the tech examines microscopic details of specific product features, allowing it to differentiate real from fake in a similar way to a human expert - all without the need for any product modification, special labels, or hidden markers. For Lacoste, Cypheme uses the famous and iconic crocodile logo to identify counterfeits. “Implementing anti-counterfeiting technologies helps brands combat piracy, secure operations, enhance revenue and improve customer engagement, however they do not stop at just that, they have a much larger impact, helping shape safer societies overall.”, says Hugo Garcia-Cotte, Cypheme CEO. Do you believe AI can fully replace traditional methods of verifying product authenticity? We’d like to hear your thoughts below 🤔 💭 💡(Consumer Goods Technology / CMX Today) #Fashion #Technology #AI #FashionInnovation #AntiCounterfeit #Lacoste #FashionTech
