Discover our 2023/2024 Impact Report! This past year has been one of significant impact for The Fore. We completed our largest funding round to date and reached a major milestone of £10 million in grants awarded since we started. As the sector struggles with more demand and less funding available, we have improved and expanded our offer to the charities we fund... and many we don't: - Our Pro Bono Network: 103 matches made between our skilled volunteers and charity leaders, giving our charities access to additional critical skills to help them grow and thrive. - A New, Advanced Impact Measurement Course: 100% said the course met their impact measurement needs. - Peer-to-Peer Support: We have strengthened opportunities for charity leaders to connect, share knowledge, and support each other, fostering a collaborative environment for best practice. We remain committed to turbo-charging exceptional small charities transforming lives and society! We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to this year's success. BlackRock UBS C. Philanthropic Fundraising Services
Turbo-charging exceptional small charities transforming lives and society.
About us
We select the highest-potential small charities and social enterprises. We source the funding and skills they need. Then we accelerate their impact. Taking inspiration from the venture capital world, we fund purpose-led projects with the highest impact and growth potential. We let our grantees tell us what they need funding for. Rather than offering funds for specific projects or outcomes, we listen to what would be best for their growth and resilience.

Delight creates lasting change for children affected by disadvantage enabling them to thrive in school and beyond. Delight uses the arts to work with 2,200 children yearly, immersing them in eight-week programmes culminating in performances or exhibitions. Inspired by Founder Kathryn Mill’s experience of growing up in a community where disadvantage was the norm, Delight alumni leave more socially and academically confident. This impact, combined with sharp rises in young people experiencing disadvantage, mental health and learning challenges, means the waiting list for schools wanting Delight’s programmes is rocketing. With our funding, Delight will recruit a Partnership Development Manager to provide capacity to reimagine their operating model by expanding digital and hybrid programme offerings to crush waiting lists and expand. Sign up to hear from Colette Batten-Turner from Conversation Over Borders this Friday!
Asylum seekers and refugees face disproportionate social exclusion. Conversation Over Borders combats this by supporting forcibly displaced people, including those fleeing war and persecution, to share their experiences with the public to bring about a fairer UK. They also offer one-to-one befriending, English classes, mental health support, and digital inclusion support to help people break down the barriers of exclusion. Conversation Over Borders believe in the power of collective action and collaboration, which is reflected in their funding strategy. They have been very successful in securing funding by partnering with peers in joint bids, demonstrating the strength of their collaborative approach. The interview will provide a chance to hear from Colette about the issues she is tackling and how Conversation Over Borders is making an impact. Good Night Out Campaign makes nights out about fun and freedom, not fear. Public campaigns empower women and LGBTQ+ people to live safely, while their training for staff at pubs, festivals, and cultural venues helps them better respond to sexual violence in their spaces. With over 2,500 venue staff trained and 93% surveyed feeling more knowledgeable in keeping people safe, their reputation as the go to nightlife safety specialists is cemented. Training requests from venues and global brands have now tripled. The Fore’s funding will provide the capacity to expand reach and respond to growing demand, through for example, launching an e-learning platform. Boosted revenues will allow global expansion, especially in countries where support for sexual violence survivors is limited. Thinking Black empowers black students to realise their full potential. Founded by Hope Oloye during her time at Oxford in response to challenges she faced, Thinking Black improves the university prospects of black students aged 11-18 through hybrid sessions delivered by black university students and graduates. 100% of students on one programme received Russell Group university offers, with 37% secured from Oxford and Cambridge. However capacity constraints and outdated technology means they can only support 1 in 5 students who apply. Using The Fore’s funding, Thinking Black will develop a new virtual learning environment to reach many more students and commercialise part of their offer to eradicate reliance on a single funding source. Yesterday, funders gathered to discuss intergenerational collaboration in family foundations at The Fore’s Funders Collective breakfast. Our panellists Lord James Lupton, Kate Symondson and Meheen Rangoonwala led the conversation on highlights and what they have learnt, chaired by Mary Rose Gunn. - “Family philanthropy works when everyone is having fun”. Panellists advised exploring giving mechanisms that reduce administrative burden, allowing for focus on individual charities and impact. - External expertise can enhance effectiveness of a family foundation, even on a temporary basis for setting things up and strategy reviews. -Expect but don’t be offput by challenges around communication and different priorities! Philanthropy presents an enormous opportunity to not only fund the change you seek in the world, but to create a legacy, build bonds in the family and deepen connections with your wider community and heritage. Thanks once again to our generous host Stonehage Fleming, and we look forward to reuniting the Funders Collective in 2025!
