🏫 | Crown Street Primary School: the first school to open in Manchester city centre for nearly twenty years On Friday 27th September Crown Street Primary School was officially announced as 'open', as the school welcomed stakeholders, parents/carers and members of the community for a ‘ribbon cutting’ ceremony. The school, built by RENAKER, is a unique building with four floors and a rooftop playground, a first in Manchester since the early 1900s, and a design which mirrors schools found in London and New York. 📑 | Student outcomes and progress report by the Education Policy Institute The Laurus Trust is pleased to share the findings from a report published by the Education Policy Institute (EPI) and funded by the Law Family Educational Trust, which examines the outcomes and progression of students attending secondary schools across the Laurus Trust. The new research builds on a previous report published in February 2024 by the EPI, which found that attending extra-curricular activities during secondary school is associated with a range of positive outcomes. This week, the Trust has welcomed Hazel Grove Primary School and opened the doors to the first group of children at Crown Street Primary School, in Manchester City Centre. 🎉 | Cheadle Hulme High School has achieved brilliant A Level results once again, with 70% of all A Level grades at A*, A or B, a further increase on last year’s fantastic results. An incredible 43 students (30% of the cohort) received 3 or more A* and A grades, with a Fabulous Five achieving all A*s. In addition, 42% of students achieved at least AAB in ‘facilitating’ subjects.  A Fantastic Fifteen students have gained highly competitive places either to study at Oxford or Cambridge, or to read Medicine or Dentistry at university. Absolutely delighted that our daughter Hattie has her place at York University to study biology. Educators and university education shaped the course of my life. The same will be true for Hattie. York was her first choice because of the course and we were both inspired by the head of education at the open day. Huge thanks to her wonderful school teachers Cheadle Hulme High School! 🦁 | Laurus Ryecroft awarded Lionesses Futures Fund We are pleased to announce that Laurus Ryecroft has been awarded the Lionesses Futures Fund grant from The Premier League, The Football Association and Government’s Football Foundation, to build a new 3G pitch to support the demand for women’s and girls’ football in Tameside. 🎶 | Laurus Live: A night of musical triumph Laurus Live, held at the iconic setting of the Royal Northern College of Music was a celebration of another outstanding year of musical performance for Laurus Trust schools. Heather Brown, Trust Director of Music, said after the event:  “I am incredibly proud of our student musicians who have shown great commitment, perseverance and dedication to their individual and collective musical progression, through their involvement in a full school performance calendar.
