A community of ambitious organisations, learning and improving together.
About us
When we created the LDC it was with the focus of simply helping organisations with the design and implementation of their Learning and Development strategy. Our key focus is now based around 'A community of ambitious organisations, learning and improving together' and we have introduced a range of new initiatives and programmes. We have been fortunate to partner with some amazing organisations including Nissan (Sunderland) and Durham Business School and these partnerships offer the LDC some world class resources and expertise. Being a member of the LDC provides efficient and cost effective access to a range of resources, expertise and benchmarking opportunities. Engagement in our activities drives improvement and levels of ambition. • Best Practice Groups • Benchmarking visits and support • A range of activities to support the first line leader • Direct support from our partner organisations • Coaching & mentoring support • Involvement in collaborative projects • Workshops and development programmes

What a way to finish off the year.... 🎄Graham Scott headed to the Beacon of Light Sunderland to join their Wear Together and Seated Chair Exercise participants for a Christmas #Baking event. 🎅 What a wholesome experience pairing up and baking Chocolate Tear-and-Share Christmas Trees. Our relationship with the Foundation of Light (SAFC) has been brilliant in 2024 and we look forward to more great work in 2025!

👏🏻 A big thank you to everyone involved for creating such an inspiring event. #OrganisationalCulture #Leadership
We had the pleasure to host The Learning & Development Consortium this week with guests from Nissan Motor Corporation, Greencore and Ardagh Group amongst a fantastic group of organisational leaders. The event provided a truly inspiring exchange about intentional organisational cultures and how to develop them. 💡 Susanne Braun from our Centre for Leadership and Followership highlighted the evidence basis for creating spaces for identity development https://brnw.ch/21wPn3b 💡 Sue Boyd, Head of our Centre for Executive Education, shared the most recent developments in our programmes across the board, from Senior Leader Apprenticeship to tailored and open programmes as well as our new Leading People-centric Change short course! https://brnw.ch/21wPn7j 💡 What are catalysts of culture when people work away from the office? We learned from Stefanie Reissner how hybrid working can weaken organisational culture, but that this should not deter employers from offering these work arrangements. 💡 How does culture work at Durham University Business School? Martyna Śliwa shared how we embed the Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability agenda in our day-to-day work to enhance global equity, prosperity, and well-being. 💡 Julie Hodges, leading international expert on change in organisations, shared lessons about 'People-Centric Organisational Change' https://brnw.ch/21wPn3j 💡 Graham Scott and Mark Dewhurst supported businesses to devise their cultural action plans for 2025 and how to create impact from those plans. We look forward to 2025, and continuing our conversations around shaping projects in organisational culture, first line leader development, and organisational productivity! #organisationalcultures #leadership #executiveeducation

🌟 A productive week for the LDC The week started with a visit to Greencore Consett – great discussions around our #EmployeeWellbeing Best Practice Group. We are also looking to offer some training around Financial Wellbeing. Wonderful support for our volunteering project in the lead-up to Christmas (watch out for further information)🎄 The week carried on with productive discussions at the Foundation of Light (SAFC) and Nissan. Finalising our activities for the remainder of 2024 and beginning to form our plans for 2025. The support from these great organisations is simply excellent. At the end of the week, our First Line Leader Development Experience concluded with a team presentation and individual poster presentations – great engagement in the room and thank you to the sponsors who gave up their time to support the group. It's been a pleasure to support the group over recent months – Mark, Alex, Danny, Lee, Martyn, Hannah, Kyle & Keith. ℹ A community of ambitious organisations learning and improving together.

📖 Today is National Read a Book Day 👏 Graham Scott has given his top recommendation for a good book to read. ➡ Happiness by Design – Finding pleasure and purpose in everyday life. Professor Paul Dolan. I’ve followed the work of Professor Paul Dolan for a number of years. A real insight into understanding the basis of our happiness. I completely relate to the two areas of pleasure and purpose and achieving the right balance. I would encourage everyone to follow his work..... Perhaps we could persuade him to support an LDC event 👀 https://lnkd.in/ezVtFaDw #ProfessorPaulDolan #ReadABook #Reading
