The Lone Strøyberg Scholarship

There are many reasons why I am proud to be Danish – but this is not one of them! 🌍 March 19th marks Denmark’s Country Overshoot Day, the day when our demand for natural resources exceeds the planet’s ability to regenerate them in a year, if everyone lived like the Danes. While individual choices matter, the bigger picture goes beyond personal responsibility. The systems we rely on are shaped by corporate decisions and public policies, and it is therefore crucial that businesses and policymakers collaborate to create change. As this year’s Lone Strøyberg Scholar, what I am, however, proud of is working with the members of the Danish-UK Association to explore how we can collectively push for systemic change, demand accountability, and advocate for solutions that respect our planet’s boundaries. I am excited to share that I have completed the Business Sustainability Management course at Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership: Education (CISL)! 🌱 The 8-module course has undoubtedly deepened my understanding of the business dimensions of sustainability, from building a compelling business case to identifying levers of change and developing action plans. However, what really stood out to me was the focus on addressing sustainability challenges across both private and public sectors, and the emphasis on #collaboration and #partnerships as essential drivers for sustainable transitions – something I am keen and quite uniquely placed to explore in my work at the Danish-UK Association. A heartfelt thank you to The Lone Strøyberg Scholarship for making this learning opportunity possible!

The reviews are in for last month's Leadership Lab 📈 Line Kjergaard, a Sustainability Advisor at Danish-UK Association attended and let us know her thoughts about the 2-day workshops in Cambridge: "Attending CISL’s Leadership Lab was an enriching experience that provided practical frameworks and tools directly applicable to my work as a sustainability advisor. The speakers were engaging and offered a blend of academic insight and practical expertise. I especially appreciated the mix of challenging discussions, peer knowledge sharing, and structured reflection, which encouraged me to critically evaluate how to advocate for change within businesses and effectively implement it." The Lab focused on developing the #SustainbilityLeadership capabilities required to steer an organisation through today's tricky climate and was delivered by sustainability experts including Zoë Arden, Gillian Secrett, Ian Ellison, Louise Drake, Tony Juniper CBE, Dr Sharon Varney, Celine Crawford, Kim Wylie, Jon Khoo and Alex Robinson.
