The OT Practice is publishing a 2nd Edition of its white paper "Ending occupational therapy waiting lists" following another extensive Freedom Of Information project across all UK local authorities 5 years on. Featuring expert analysis from our independent authors, Dr. Jo Watson and Michael Guthrie, who draw on experience from their academic work, national leadership roles, and hands on experience at RCOT and HCPC respectively. Drawing on data from 2019 and 2024, this edition bring a new level of perspective – not just ‘current status’, but how OT waiting lists have evolved over the last 5 years and what solutions are having an impact – providing invaluable data and insights on: -waiting times -children & adult services -methods of service delivery -cost analysis -trends in approach and their level of success, among others. As an independent OT provider working closely with local authorities, we have scrutinised the impact of collaboration between the public and independent sectors, analysing what we can learn from the approach organisations have taken to managing their waiting lists, whether it is using in-house teams, Section 75 NHS outsourcing or independent providers. If you are a public sector professional, you can register for a free copy which will be sent to you the day before the official release on 27th November by emailing whitepapers@theotpractice.com. Alternatively, if you are attending the NCASC conference in Liverpool, come and pick up a copy from our stand. #occupationaltherapy #localcouncils #localauthorities #nhs #waitinglists #adultsocialcare #childrensocialcare #NCASC2024 #ADASS #ADCS #LGA Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) ADCS Local Government Association

Nikki Thompson and I spent the morning finalising the plans for our upcoming Long Service Lunch and awards for The OT Practice associates that we have been honoured to work with for many years. We can't wait to host our wonderful OTs at this exclusive venue -the home of England Rugby 🏉 Allianz Stadium. We might have been just a little bit excited 😊 ...

What a great week it has been here at The OT Practice. Sarah Doyle, Hollie Mulberry, Sam Wade, Shannon Darby and Honor Curtis travelled to London to meet our associates, many for the the first time face-to-face, although it felt as if they had known each other forever! It was a great opportunity for experienced therapists to share their career journeys with those interested in learning more about independent practice and the diversity that being an occupational therapist offers, in so many ways. "A friendly, fun atmosphere, I've never been to a networking event before where everyone is so welcoming" - Associate OT. Look out for where you can meet the team next... #occupationaltherapy #independentpractice
