We're thrilled to announce our new 'Getting Started Toolkit' for aspiring walk leaders thanks to generous support from our friends at Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust! As Britain’s walking charity, The Ramblers ambition is to break down barriers to ensure everyone, everywhere can feel safe and welcome to enjoy all the benefits of walking in the outdoors. And at the Ramblers we know a great way to get more people walking is to lead safe and enjoyable group walks. The new toolkit aims to support new walk leaders from communities that are under-represented in the outdoors - and will be co-designed by representatives of these groups alongside Ramblers Walk Leader expert knowledge and advice to ensure it supports as many people as possible to get out and experience the joy of walking! Walk Together | Can you become a mentor? We’re excited to share that the first group of new walk leaders have started their training on the Walk Together Pathway – a project to widen participation in the outdoors by supporting people from Global Majority backgrounds to become qualified walk leaders. We’re looking for mentors to help participants on their journey. As a mentor you’ll be listening, offering guidance and sharing your knowledge and expertise. You don’t need to have a walk leadership qualification – but it’s essential to have a love of the outdoors, group walk experience and be open to new ideas!
