I had the pleasure of judging the Festival of Media Cause Awards, and I’m excited to share the shortlist with you all below. Here are my key takeaways as a judge: 1) Beyond Creativity: A brilliant creative idea can falter at the media execution stage. It’s crucial to ensure that your media buy is progressive and aligns with the campaign’s values. 2) Crafting Entries: Writing award entries is an art. Many submissions fell short due to poor writing. I found essential information missing in the write-ups, which I discovered through further reading. Investing in well-written entries is vital. 3) Encouraging Participation: There are many great projects out there that didn’t enter. The bar for excellence in this space is still low, and it’s important to have confidence in your work, no matter how small. We need more case studies and examples to inspire the industry. Last week we had an enriching volunteering day with Care4Calais. As a team we came together to sort and pack supplies for refugees living in the UK. It's so important for us as a company to champion great causes such as this and give back where we can.
Yesterday the team at Responsible Marketing Agency took some time out to give back with a day volunteering for Care4Calais. We got stuck in sorting and packing items for many UK based refugees stuck in hotels pending the huge backlog of processing. It was a humbling experience and while we achieved a lot in the warehouse it was such a tiny drop of a much bigger issue that’s only escalating. I highly recommend taking time out as a team to give back, it’s made us richer for the experience.
