📢 Czech Legal News is attending the Annual Conference of The European Circuit which is taking place in Bordeaux, France from 19-20 September 2024. 🇫🇷 🌍 The international conference brought together around 70 lawyers from many different countries. 🤝 🎤 The welcome speech was given by the Leader of the European Circuit, Michael Bowsher, followed by the representative of the Bordeaux Bar (Barreau de Bordeaux), member of the Board of Directors Thibault SAINT-MARTIN. ⚖️ The conference kicked-off with the "Bar Leaders Panel" with Robert Němec, President of the Czech Bar Association (ČAK - Česká advokátní komora), Barbara Mills KC, Vice-Chair of the The Bar Council of England and Wales), Darren Lehane SC, Vice Chair of the The Bar of Ireland and Thibault Saint-Martin from the Bordeaux Bar. 🖥 Next panel focused on "AI and Technology" with distinguished speakers Carlos Villacorta, Oana Stefan, Lisa McClory and Philip Mead. 🖋 The last panel was dedicated to the topic of "Comparative Approaches to Evidence" with Richard Pearce, Michael M. The Circuit is very pleased to be welcoming His Honour Judge Richard Pearce to this year's Annual Conference as a speaker on the panel 'Comparative Approaches to Evidence'. HHJ Pearce is a full-time Judge, and is in charge of the Circuit Commercial Court in Manchester as well as regularly sitting in the Chancery and King's Bench Divisions of the High Court. HHJ Pearce's practice as a barrister centred predominantly on medical regulation and clinical and professional negligence work. We are hugely looking forward to hearing his insights on different approaches to dealing with evidence at the Conference!

Rounding off what promises to be a fascinating discussion on 'Recent Elections in France, the UK and the EU and their impact on the law' will be Evanna Fruithof, General Council of the Bar of England and Wales. Evanna has extensive experience both as a barrister practicing in England and Wales and as a lawyer for the European Commission in Brussels. She has been the Consultant Director of the Brussels Office of the Bar Council for 25 years, in addition to leading the Bar's European Committee and founding several Working Groups focusing on the aftermath of Brexit. Evanna will be speaking on this panel alongside James Onalaja, Daniel Jones and alastair sutton. We are hugely looking forward to hearing their views on the recent political events across Europe and their impact for the legal profession.

The Circuit is very pleased to welcome Giuseppe Calabi to the panel 'Litigating Cross-Border Contracts: An Art Market Perspective'. Giuseppe is senior partner at CBM & Partners Studio Legale in Milan, a firm which is widely recognised for its leadership in the field of art law, both nationally and internationally. Giuseppe will be drawing on his experience as a member of the government's Permanent Table on international artwork circulation and past involvement with the Art, Cultural Institutions and Heritage Law Committee of the IBA to share his expertise at the Conference. Representing Ireland on the Bar Leaders' Panel at the European Circuit's Annual Conference will be Darren Lehane SC, Vice-Chair of the Council of the Bar of Ireland. Darren's legal practice focuses primarily on commercial and public law, with particular specialism in maritime, constitutional and inquiry law. In addition to his work with the Bar of Ireland, Darren is President of the Irish Maritime Law Association and sits on a number of maritime and commercial law panels.
