Let me introduce you to not one, but two forces of nature in the Startup Ecosystem! 😲 Perdie Alder and M Coyle are the Co-founders of Hotbed and they have been shaking things up for some time. From huge ambitions to contribute meaningfully to the startup ecosystem a few years ago to now very recently holding their 5th Founders Camp (and it was a roaring success!) What an inspiring day at Founders Camp last Friday! I had the privilege of hearing from some incredible founders and investors, and I’m still going through all the valuable nuggets of advice I noted down. The talks were truly insightful and have left me with a lot to reflect on as I continue my own journey. Unfortunately, I had to leave early to deal with a work situation, so I missed some of the later sessions, but the experience was absolutely worth it! Last Friday = "Practical & tactical" ~ Perdie Alder Another mega 'Founder's Camp' from Hotbed thanks to the wonderful M Coyle & Perdie Alder and all the inspiring and informative speakers, founders and investors. The day began with the inspiring Roman Zomko, CEO of Impressit, reframing crisis through the lens of his experience as a Ukrainian surviving both personally and professionally through the war, and making my hurdles feel insignificant: 🔄 "Address the immediate problems and adapt." Followed by a 🔥side chat with Michael Acton Smith, Co Founder of Calm 🧘♀️ 💭 - I could of written a whole post on this! - key takeaways: 🔑 "Connection is the key to business" 💪 Founders need strong conviction 🤸♀️ Make a leap that customers aren’t even thinking about 🔃 Pivot = fast metabolism  💫 Sprinkle some magic (value) on everything you do - creates companies that people love (don’t just like) Next up was an Investor Panel with Stephen Wilks, Co CEO of Novabook + 👼, Tilly Fleming at Octopus Ventures, Jo Dalton 👼, Christian Tooley at Bain & Company who urged for business' to "know what your company does in one sentence", and Taos Edmondson, CFA at dmg ventures who described investing as "Just a feeling - I usually get that feeling in the first 5-10 minutes of a pitch." 🎺 Rory Sadler, CEO & Co-founder of trumpet 🎺 on Sales: "Don’t be afraid to charge for a pilot." "Build a customer advisory board" "Don’t sell features, sell outcomes!" Our fifth Hotbed Founders Camp was another unforgettable day 🧡 💛 Getting to sit down to chat to Michael Acton Smith after reading, watching and listening to his numerous interviews and Ted Talk was a 'pinch me' moment. Diving deep into AI with the Creative Director at ElevenLabs, Justin, and founder and investor Xavier was both fun and incredibly thought-provoking! Hearing Roman tell his story of building through crisis was both moving and inspiring. Add to that the investor panel, interview with Gorillas founder Kağan Sümer, Fireside with Hugo Tilmouth, and expert deep dives with Carta, Deel, trumpet 🎺 & Blue Array | SEO Agency of the Year, and it completed a full day of learning and inspiration.
