The Knowledge

Movies, Videos, and Sound

The definitive source of suppliers, crew and companies within UK Film, TV, and commercial production.

About us

The Knowledge book was first published in 1986 by three production managers, who decided to get together and pool their contacts and expertise. The result, over thirty years on, is a directory that has become known as the industry bible for film and TV professionals. Twelve years after the print edition was launched, the website was born. Theknowledgeonline.com quickly became a one-stop shop for those looking for crew, service providers, suppliers and anyone who may work behind the camera in film and television. A few years later we launched The Knowledge Bulletin. This weekly news digest now carries advertising as well as a potted version of the varied original content – news, features and guides - published over the last seven days, and goes out to over 20,000 people. MBI took over The Knowledge in 2015. The site now has over 420 categories, from armourers to art directors, from baby wranglers to line producers, making it a must-use-tool for anyone looking to source services, suppliers, crew or studios in the UK. Take a look around the website and find out why so many industry professionals rely on The Knowledge for all their production needs.
