It's Ask Your Pharmacist Week (4-11 November 2024), and this year we're thinking about all the hardworking experts in our community. This year's theme: "Professional and convenient healthcare, from your local pharmacy team". This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the ever-expanding role of pharmacists in healthcare and how they can be your first point of contact for many health concerns. On the 13-14 October, The NEC, Birmingham once again played host to thousands of community pharmacy professionals from across the country as they gathered to network, learn, and share ideas at The Pharmacy Show.  Across two engaging days, the show brought together over 8,700 pharmacy professionals from across community pharmacy, general practice and integrated care systems, including 347 exhibitors and 221 speakers. #PS24UK #Communitypharmacy #Primarycare #Healthcare #Pharmacy #Pharmacyshow

In 2023, Community Pharmacy England (CPE) commissioned The Nuffield Trust and The King’s Fund to develop the report ‘A Vision for Community Pharmacy’, setting out how to expand the role of community pharmacy in healthcare over the next decade. Pharmacy First launched in England on 31 January 2024, allowing patients access to assessment and treatment for seven common clinical conditions from their community pharmacy, without the need for a GP appointment, as part of a major transformation in the way the NHS delivers care. ❇The Pharmacy Show ❇ It was such an eye opening event the first time, I had to return a second time. I have always been fascinated about the TITAN PMR system after using it within the pharmacy. Therefore, it was a privilege to meet the man in charge Tariq Muhammad who was incredibly down to earth; he explained the innovative TITANVERSE and its ability to increase productivity. It was fantastic to meet Yasir Sacranie again. From attending a MicroPharm webinar to meeting in person, his work ethic and drive is truly inspirational. In addition, it was a pleasure to meet Marvin Munzu and Umar Majid at the preregshortcuts stand, their passion and enthusiasm towards helping others was great to see. Moreover, listening to and interacting with Kiran Moyo was motivating. Her talk about pharmacists not sticking to the traditional route, broadened my horizons regarding potential future career paths. I also want to express my thanks to Shaheena Chowdhury at the Sanofi stand for her expertise on getting involved within industry. Lastly, Meducate Academy hosted a very engaging and informative workshop on effective communication with a challenging patient during a cardio examination. It was a joy to attend, with excellent demonstration on stethoscope usage. Furthermore, with the prevalence of COVID and Flu vaccines being administered, I took part in a comprehensive vaccination training course. This course was hosted by Mohammed Ibrahim FRPharmS, covering intramuscular and subcutaneous techniques alongside adult, child and infant CPR. Truly a worthwhile experience and I would recommend attending the show to others.
