There’s nothing more rewarding than supporting organisations to build a new strategy. Working with Leeds Community Foundation and GiveBradord board and team has been an absolute pleasure. More information to follow on this exciting work, however I was just reflecting on some takeaways as I kick off some new work: 🔑 People are the key to understanding and unlocking potential 🗣️ Diverse voices matter, both to guide and enact the strategy 🎯 Build consensus on shared vision and goals so everyone can get behind them - you can’t please everyone! 🫶🏼 Building strong relationships and collaborative leadership matters ⏰ Taking time, allowing ownership and recognising that change can feel uncomfortable for some 👛 Changing in a difficult and evolving landscape requires a strategy that is agile, yet ambitious (not easy!) Brilliant day at the Sporting Chance summit on Wellbeing and Performance @ Southampton FC. Great to hear from lived experience, experts, academics, and the private sector on the evolution and recommendations. Here are a few key takeaways from this thought-provoking day: ❤️ Lots of people in sport care about people, but there is a lot to do to make this everyone’s business. 📖 Storytelling is a powerful tool in shifting cultures - your why, who, and how. 👩 Connection and relationships are important for our wellbeing. We need to be more human. 👨💻 Data is important to understand, influence, and create change. 👼 Little things matter; they will build trust and create the culture you want to establish. 🙋♂️ People are an organisation’s greatest assets and should be core to any sustainability strategy. Overall, it feels like mental health and wellbeing in elite sport are in their infancy. There is a lot to do, but the conversation is shifting. It's exciting, and I can't wait to see what happens in the future. Though, how can we make progress if research is taking 10 years 🤔. Oh and sleep matters! I’ll be having a nap on the train home 😉.
