Think Therapy 1st (TT1st) is a Specialist Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy company that works with clients who have been severely and catastrophically injured, in addition to those experiencing both short and long term illnesses.
At TT1st we work collaboratively with the client to re-engage them with the activities they want and need to do each day. Including self-care tasks, leisure and productivity (work, education, family roles).
Our aim is to make therapy fun and engaging with the client as the expert in their own recovery. Through activity, activity, activity we deliver excellent outcomes.
We have a UK wide network of Specialist Rehabilitation Occupational Therapists (SROTs) who work locally with the client in their environments, building a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team around them, bespoke to their needs and rehabilitation journey.

🎉 Penny, a massive congratulations on your RCOT merit award! 🎉
Everyone at TT1st is beaming with pride. You make the complex seem simple and the impossible look easy.

In the article published in the recent #OTnews, (terrible quality pics below 😳 ) Penny reflected on winning the Merit Award.
“This award is an honour to receive and will elevate the importance of occupational therapy as an effective way for people to get back to living their lives.
The current UK focus on compensatory/adaptive interventions is short sighted and creates long-term disability and unnecessary dependence. Restorative functional rehabilitation is a paradigm shift needed to make sure we are adding life to days and not just days to life.”
What a fantastic way to end the week!
The TT1st team hope you have a cracking weekend, and we look forward to catching up next week.
2 4 1! 📢 Introduction and Celebration 🎉
Meet Sam— Think Therapy 1st’s OT of the Month for September! After spending some time as an associate, Sam has now joined the team full-time as a Specialist Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist (SROT). Everyone at TT1st is incredibly proud to have recruited an OT of Sam’s calibre.
I asked Samantha 3 questions to help you get to know her better!
1️⃣ How do you get such great client engagement?
“For me it's about taking time to build a therapeutic relationship, developing trust and listening to the client to establish their priorities, concerns and strengths. It is important to use a flexible approach to help people achieve goals. I think it's important to have an open mind and not judge people, a good sense of humour and a bit of perseverance go a long way. I find education can help support clients to develop insight into their support needs, and slowly planting seeds to enable them to develop their own ideas and realise they can achieve what they might have thought was unachievable, leading to more positive outcomes for the future.... Oh, and giving their pets a lot of love that goes a long way.”
2️⃣ Why did you choose to move across to TT1st full time?
“I've been working in acute hospitals for a while as a lead OT but didn't feel I could use my OT skills to my full potential over the last couple of years. This time last year I went to Tanzania in East Africa to support with the development of OT input in a vocational rehabilitation centre for children and young adults with learning disabilities. It was such an amazing experience to work with motivated and resilient young people as well as a creative and resourceful team, it made me realise how much I missed the hands on and creative side of OT. So, I "dipped my toe in" with TT1st earlier this year and loved the new challenge, I have found it extremely rewarding and work diverse, it requires me to think outside the box, get creative and motivates me to explore and learn every day. As an associate, I was impressed at how supportive and knowledgeable the whole team are, I love the ethos of TT1st and felt it was the right time for me to make the move and an opportunity to make a real difference!”
3️⃣ What do you do when you’re not being an OT?
“When I'm not being an OT I'm generally, out walking the hills with my husband, friends and dog, trying to motivate myself to go to the gym, exploring places in my campervan, and learning to scuba dive.”
Oh… and a bonus question, what are you going to spend your OT of the month voucher on?
“Probably something for the wardrobe now I'm not longer in green trousers and tunic every day!”
Thanks Sam, enjoy flexing those #OT skills.
