84% of women report that menopause symptoms negatively impact their work when they receive no support. Research suggests that the global population of menopausal women is growing, and yet it's still a misunderstood topic in the workplace. This World Menopause Awareness Day, we're sharing practical strategies to support employees through menopause. We recently spoke to Dr. Ruqia Zafar, NHS GP and Director of BHRT at FUTURE WOMAN, who shared her advice for employers: 1) Encourage open conversations and awareness training: Many employees won't feel comfortable talking to their manager about menopause unless there's an existing culture that normalises the conversation. 2) Flexible working: Offering hybrid models or flexible hours can help employees manage symptoms like fatigue and anxiety, without compromising their performance. 3) Physical and mental health support: Tailored solutions, from ergonomic adjustments to counselling services, can make a real difference. 4) Nutrition: Providing balanced meal options in workplace cafeterias or organising nutrition workshops can help to improve symptoms of fatigue and joint pain. Plus, these initiatives benefit all employees! The level of workplace support received by those experiencing menopause can make an incredible difference in their day-to-day lives. The companies that get this right will not only improve employee wellbeing, but also see better staff retention and loyalty. 🔗 Find our full blog in the comments for more insights from Dr. Ruqia Zafar and our team. #WorldMenopauseDay #MenopauseAwareness #WorkplaceWellbeing
