Our Big Event 2025 ✅ What a celebration! Last week we returned to the Birmingham ICC for our annual Big Event conference, where we celebrated all our colleagues as well as focussing on our priorities for the year ahead. As always, we announced the winners of our esteemed ‘Travelodge Roomies’ awards and wrapped up the evening with a fantastic party! Congratulations to all the winners.

#Travelodge has completed the acquisition of a hotel in Barcelona - the 6th and final hotel acquired as part of the previously reported deal agreed with Louvre Hotels Group earlier this year.  Travelodge Barcelona Cornella Fira is a 138-room hotel that Travelodge will operate on a long-leasehold basis. The five other hotels in this deal located in Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Murcia were acquired on a freehold basis and completed in April. The acquisition builds on Travelodge’s existing strongly performing Spanish business, bringing its presence in the Spanish market to 12 hotels. Link in comments to learn more.

It was great to spend time with Ashley Armstrong yesterday guest editing The Sun business page, published this morning, and to meet the wider editorial team. A fantastic opportunity to spotlight the work we’re doing at Travelodge to support social mobility and encourage people into work and to progress on their career journeys through our part time and flexible work opportunities and long-running Aspire training programme. Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we’re committed to being a workplace in which anyone – regardless of background – can get in and get on. Thank you to Ashley and all of the editors I met yesterday, who made for a collaborative and insightful experience.

About last night! What an honour it was to be at the Heart Hero Awards and receive ‘Outstanding Commitment to Cause’, presented by G.B. Olympic gymnasts and British Heart Foundation Ambassadors, Ellie and Becky Downie. Our Travelodge Chairman Martin Robinson and Chief Revenue Office Tom Edwards attended, Tom said “The Heart Hero Awards are a truly inspiring evening and really brings into focus why we became charity partners in the first place.” We’re also delighted that we’ve reached the £1m milestone raised thanks to the huge generosity of our customers! But we don’t want to stop there…we’ve just launched our very first contactless donation units in our busy Covent Garden hotel making donating to this great charity even simpler.
