This has been a great project working with TRG , who really embraced the ideas and early concepts to create this amazing new addition to our departure lounge for passengers to enjoy! A sense of place with a nod to the iconic Belfast skyline, a perfect spot for some pre-flight craic! We report on a nice Northern Ireland sense of place opening here, as TRG Concessions opens its first venue outside mainland UK at Belfast City Airport. The 180-cover bar/restaurant is named Samson’s Kitchen & Bar after the larger of the two famous shipbuilding cranes in Belfast Port. Samson’s Kitchen & Bar, Belfast City Airport, is now open!   This is TRG Concessions' first offer outside of mainland UK, with the new restaurant and bar offering locally sourced food to over 2 million flyers a year. It is also Belfast Airport’s first food & beverage unit with a table service offering.   When designing the 194-cover restaurant, the turnerbates team took inspiration from the famous staples of Belfast’s skyline – the Samson and Goliath cranes. The new interior features industrial and nautical references to the nearby port, pops of the iconic yellow, repurposed whiskey barrels, and cheeky local sayings painted on the walls. Our design creates a strong sense of place for visitors heading off on their journeys, along with a family-friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.   This new TB-designed project with TRG Concessions comes just a few months after the successful opening of Caledonia Bar & Restaurant in Glasgow Airport, Scotland. An expanded BrewDog bar/restaurant and a Sainsbury's store are among the changes coming to Edinburgh Airport amid a major revamp of its food & beverage and shopping offer. BrewDog will be moving into larger premises while the major British supermarket will make its airport debut.
