We want to say the biggest thank you to our channel swimming fundraisers, and also congratulate you on making the decision to do what was best for your wellbeing! Still a mind blowing achievement and sometimes accepting a DNF proves you're even stronger 💪
We finally got our chance to swim the English Channel on the 4th of October (this is a post recovery post). Unfortunately we didn’t quite touch the French shores as Mother Nature had other plans for us. Strong currents were pushing us across the main shipping lanes between Dover and Calais which was a no go zone for swimmers. So our captain made an executive decision to turn around just 3 miles from the finish line. It’s been really hard to process… It was the hardest thing we have done mentally and physically, and DNF was a hard pill to swallow. However we have been humbled by what we have achieved regardless. Maybe…maybe we will try again some day soon Big shout out to my team Aquanimity and especially Jessica Macleod, supporting me in the darkest (literally and figuratively) moments during my swims. Couldn’t have done it without her looking after me! Some stats for you: - swam 14.5 hours (2-3 hours per person) - 6 people in the team - start 12pm, finish 3.30am - water temp: 16.7-15.9C (I have never felt this cold 😂 and I’m from Russia) - 8 boats went out, only 2 finished (one of which was a solo swimmer 🤯) - one 🪼 sting - zero 🦈 bites THANK YOU all so much for your support and donations to Shout UK a mental health charity. It means more than the words can say. Our page will be open a little while longer. #channelswim #openwaterswimming https://lnkd.in/gnpvY_G7

Today is World Mental Health Day. We know farming is a tough job, which is why we teamed up with Shout UK, a 24/7 text support service. It’s been encouraging to hear that some of you have benefited from reaching out. Since we teamed up in August, we’ve had over 335 farmers reach out and have had 356 conversations, offering support with stress and worry. If you are also a farmer that is finding it tough, we implore you to reach out. So, to all our farmers out there: if you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed, text HAWKSTONE to 85258 for free and confidential support.

Shout plays a key role in providing urgent mental health care in the UK. Our new report, in partnership with Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London, found that Shout's accessibility and reach means it can provide vital support at a time of unprecedented need. Alongside anonymous data insights from more than 2.5 million Shout conversations, our Service User Voice Group helped us to understand the impact Shout has, and where we can continue to do more 💜 Read the full report > https://lnkd.in/eiX2qCnt
