NEWS: Tribe Payments is delighted to announce the opening of a brand new office in Singapore! https://bit.ly/48pSqXq The move comes as part of our strategic expansion into APAC, and our Singapore office will be led by payments industry veteran Matt Weir who has been appointed as General Manager - Asia Pacific. Matt will be working closely with Alex Reddish, our Head of Market Expansion & GTM Strategy, and the pair will also be at the upcoming Singapore Fintech Festival to showcase how Tribe can supercharge your payments processing. Commenting on his new role, Matt said: “I am delighted to join the Tribe team and to have the privileged position of leading the company’s launch and expansion into the APAC region. The team has built and developed a truly unique cloud-based, API-driven proprietary payments platform, offering world-class digital solutions for issuers, acquirers, and merchant clients. “No other digital payments player offers this breadth of solution design and implementation. It is therefore the perfect time to expand into Asia-Pacific – the fastest growing and most digitally savvy region in the world.” Tribe CEO Andrew Hocking added: “The APAC market is thriving with innovation, and our enhanced presence here will allow us to better support the region’s banks, fintechs, and financial institutions as they navigate an increasingly digital and dynamic landscape. “Our Singapore office will serve as a hub of expertise, enabling us to form deeper partnerships and provide tailored services that meet the unique needs of the market. As the fallout from the Oasis dynamic pricing debacle reaches the House of Commons, Tribe's Chief Operating Officer Lynda Clarke welcomes proposals to make ticket pricing more transparent - but also reminds politicians and regulators that it can be a viable business model for certain industries when used correctly. “It was inevitable that politicians would try to squeeze some public goodwill out of the recent Oasis ticket pricing furore. The proposed Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) Bill aims to bring transparency to ticket prices for live events and will no doubt be welcomed by die-hard fans who feel like they’re being gouged when trying to see their favourite acts live. But lawmakers, in their rush to curry favour with the public, need to remember the law of supply and demand, and be careful that they don’t squeeze dynamic pricing out of the market altogether. "Let’s be clear: The issue is not raising ticket prices in the face of huge demand. No business wants to be accused of exploiting customers. In today’s social media age, that would be an instant reputation-killer. It’s a lack of transparency in explaining to consumers why and how ticket prices are raised in real-time that makes people angry. "While we wait to see the progress of this bill through Parliament, it’s important to remember that dynamic pricing is a viable business model that has helped high-volume businesses like airlines, ecommerce marketplaces, and event organisers to manage ticket sales in the face of unpredictable real-time market demand. "We all want to see more transparent ticket pricing and the end of unfair commercial practices, but not at the expense of businesses being able to charge a fair price for goods and services that are high in demand. Managed well and explained clearly to consumers at the point of purchase, dynamic pricing is a valuable tool for businesses engaged in peak sales events. Regulators stepping in to cap ticket prices could set a dangerous precedent and discourage competition to the detriment of consumers.” Read more here: https://bit.ly/4fg7yZz #Payments #DynamicPricing #PayTech Fintech #Events #Tickets

The latest in our series of Tribe interviews for Payment Expert features our Head of Product Management, Robin Anderson, who shares who his biggest role model is outside of the payments industry, while also showcasing his affinity for abbreviations and acronyms. "François Lionet's commitment to making games design easier for the common enthusiast led indirectly to modern game engine design (Unreal, Unity) and sparked an interest in me that has lasted now for over 30 years. I love games design and programming, and I enjoy making payments and e-commerce topics more accessible for those who want to learn." It was great to have some of the Tribe Payments team over in London this week for the European Women Payments Network (EWPN) Annual Conference! It's an event that we at Tribe were proud to sponsor and Lynda Clarke smashed her closing keynote speech on how for all the various D&I initiatives in the workplace and beyond, many companies still fall short when it comes to real inclusion. It's not just ticking the diversity box. Real D&I means fostering an atmosphere where everyone feels empowered and comfortable to speak up and share ideas. And kudos to the event organisers for dedicating the first half of the conference to neurodiversity, going above and beyond their primary ethos of championing women in payments. It's safe to say that everyone in the room was particularly moved by Kris Foster's emotional speech in which he championed and showcased Project Nemo. With huge thanks to Aishat A., Nadia Edwards-Dashti, Helen Owen, Svetlana Hoffmann, Miranda McLean FCIM & Dr Ekaterina Safonova for organising the London event, and to all the other speakers (too many to tag, and I'll definitely omit some accidentally).

"When we talk about inclusion, we are not just talking about ticking a diversity box. Inclusion means that everyone - regardless of their background - feels both empowered and valued to speak up, be heard, and be seen. "It means creating an environment where people can challenge the status quo, share their unique perspectives, and ultimately drive innovation and success." Tribe's Chief Operating Officer Lynda Clarke delivered the closing keynote speech at yesterday's European Women Payments Network (EWPN) Annual Conference; a fantastic day that featured several inspiring speakers - and one that Tribe was proud to be involved ✨ With huge thanks to the organising committee from across all four European venues, including Nadia Edwards-Dashti, Aishat Apesin, Helen Owen, Svetlana Hoffmann, Miranda McLean FCIM & Dr Ekaterina Safonova from the London branch. #WomenInPayments #WomenInFintech #Payments #Fintech #Diversity #Inclusion

"If the government is serious about positioning the UK as the world’s leading fintech hub, then half-baked plans like these which may dampen innovation and competition are not the way to go about it. "Fintechs rely heavily on banks to drive innovation in payments, but with new players already under more pressure than ever, slowing down payment flows adds friction that could hinder growth across the sector." With the UK government planning to delaying payments by up to 72 hours to prevent fraud, Tribe's Alex Reddish explored how the well-intentioned initiative may lead to a host of unintended consequences... https://bit.ly/3A3H9PF #Fraud #FraudPrevention #Payments #PayTech #Fintech
