Our CEO Kush Wadhwa spoke at the United Nations yesterday, engaging with the young adults attending the United Nations International School 2025 Conference - ‘Beyond the Algorithm: Navigating the Future of AI’. Their enthusiasm to help shape the future reaffirmed the vital role young people play in ensuring AI is ethical and responsible. AI is not neutral - it reflects the values we embed into it. At Trilateral Research, we believe AI must prioritise fairness, accountability, and human rights. The students at the UNIS Conference showed they are ready to take on this responsibility, ensuring AI serves society for the better. #ResponsibleAI #AIForGood #EthicalAI #FutureLeaders #UNIS #AIInnovation
🔹 The AI Age is here – how will the next generation define it? 🔹 Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking at the United Nations to a room full of young minds who will help shape the future of AI. There is something uniquely powerful about engaging with young adults at this pivotal moment in history. The AI Age has begun, and we stand at the frontier of possibilities - both inspiring and daunting. But one thing is certain: the way AI develops, how it is designed, used, and governed, is not predetermined. It is a choice - and it is one that the next generation will have to make. This isn’t just about understanding AI; it’s about defining AI. These young people are not just observers at the dawn of this revolution. They are participants, builders, watchdogs, and decision-makers. They can use AI for good, build AI responsibly, master its potential, or protect against its misuse. At Trilateral Research, we have seen first hand how ethical AI can change lives—whether it’s safeguarding vulnerable children from exploitation, tackling air pollution and public health challenges, or helping governments make informed, responsible decisions. But the future of AI cannot be left solely to tech companies or even policymakers. We need those of every background—engineers, ethicists, artists, economists, activists—to bring their diverse perspectives to the conversation. The reality is that AI is not neutral. Every system has values embedded into it, whether we realise it or not. And if we do not build AI with ethics, fairness, and human rights at its core, we risk a future where technology makes decisions about us, rather than for us. This is why today’s young people are so important. They are the AI Heroes we need - those who will challenge, question, innovate, and lead with responsibility. I was truly inspired by the conversations I had at the United Nations International School (UNIS) 2025 Conference - Beyond the Algorithm: Navigating the Future of AI. With over 700 participants from 100+ countries, the energy, curiosity, and ambition in the room gave me confidence that the next generation is ready to take on this challenge. They understand that AI is not just about automation or convenience - it is about innovation, justice, and responsibility. The students I met are not waiting for someone else to set the rules of AI - they are ready to shape them. They are the ones who will define whether AI serves humanity or divides it. And from what I saw at UNIS, I have no doubt they will rise to the occasion. #ResponsibleAI #EthicalAI #AIforGood #FutureLeaders #UNIS #AIInnovation

⚠️ How do we ensure AI-powered cancer detection tools work fairly for everyone, regardless of gender? At Trilateral Research, we partnered with the iToBoS (Intelligent Total Body Scanner for Early Detection of Melanoma) project to identify and mitigate bias in their EU-funded AI tool. Working alongside the National Technical University of Athens, we found: 👉 Female patients were 26% more likely to be incorrectly classified as at risk for melanoma development 👉 We successfully adjusted the training data to ensure equal false positive rates across genders 👉 Our team continues working to ensure fairness across age and socioeconomic backgrounds The iToBoS system works by analysing patient scans through a Cognitive Assistance framework that generates melanoma risk scores, helping clinicians make earlier and more personalised diagnoses of this aggressive skin cancer.
