We are delighted to announce that players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised £500,000 in funding for Turn2us, with funding awarded through Postcode Support Trust. It is fantastic to receive this funding, which is our second award thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who previously raised £300,000 for Turn2us. This wonderful support is vital to extending our reach to tackle financial insecurity across the UK through our grants, local programmes, and online income maximisation tools. Thomas Lawson, Turn2us CEO, says: “We are deeply grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their ongoing support. This crucial and flexible funding will help Turn2us as we continue offering practical support to those of us facing financial shocks and use our insights to challenge the root causes of financial insecurity. The generosity of People’s Postcode Lottery players is instrumental in making this work possible, and we truly appreciate their commitment to helping individuals and families build financial resilience.” For more information about People's Postcode Lottery, please visit https://lnkd.in/e_t4Gqez

Financial insecurity means living in a constant state of worry. How will I pay that bill, how can I stretch my pay cheque to last the month? I don’t believe anyone should have to live like that. Turn2us is a group of dedicated people - trustees and staff, passionate about lifting that weight from people’s shoulders, helping them access the support they need to live well and thrive. If you’d like to help us achieve that, we’re looking for a diplomatic and inspiring leader to serve as Chair of Trustees. https://lnkd.in/eWhAHsDg Charlotte Hill OBE, Matt Hyde OBE, Mark Norbury, Dr Wanda Wyporska, FRHistS, Anna Feuchtwang, Manny Hothi, Julie Bentley, Simon Blake OBE, Leah Black, Sara Llewellin, Carol Mack, Mubin Haq, Paul Kissack, Emma Revie, Emma Reed, Gillian Russell, Emma Thomas, Paul Parker, Barry O'Dwyer, Julian Ide, Clare Moriarty, Kate Lee OBE, Jules Hillier, Patrick Dunne, Ben Kernighan, Jo Kerr, Sonya Ruparel, Abigail Harris, Jane Ide OBE HonDUniv, Jane Harbottle, Paul Carbury, Paul Carberry, Arvinda Gohil OBE, Mark Russell, Joseph Howes, Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, Baljeet Sandhu MBE, Alison Garnham, Dr Emma Haddad, Matt Downie MBE, Polly Neate CBE FAcSS LLD(hc)

We need a social security system we can trust, that genuinely supports people into work, that we can all be proud of. Some of the government's proposed changes could be a step in the right direction. However, reducing access to PIP and cutting Universal Credit for those unable to work is short sighted. These cuts will create hardship, erode trust and cost us more in the long run. Ros, who claims Personal Independence Payment and Universal Credit told us “This isn’t a choice between working or benefits, it’s a choice between survival and destitution.” And there are many, many people like Ros. These benefits are a lifeline, helping her to manage the additional costs of living with a disability. For people who may be affected by these cuts, this isn’t just a minor change, their independence and dignity are on the line. If the government wants to ‘get Britain working’, it needs to get the system working. That means listening to people’s experiences, building trust and making sure everyone has enough to live on. #GetTheSystemWorking

You might have seen on the news that the Government will be making changes to disability and health related benefits. There is a lot of speculation at the moment, whether there will be cuts and what other support will be put in place. We know that for many people this is frightening. The Government is right in wanting to reform the system, but cuts will drive hardship, not employment. We want to see reform that sets people up to thrive, whether they are working, caring or managing their health. We do not want reform that drives people further into hardship.

We've joined Scope to urge the Chancellor to reconsider potential cuts to disability benefits. It would have a catastrophic impact on disabled people, pushing even more disabled households into poverty. Read our open letter to the Chancellor: https://lnkd.in/eYBRNDW4
