Last week we met with Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation, to launch a major new project, supported by the Scottish Funding Council. Over the coming year, we will evaluate the carbon reduction secured by a high-quality #Enerphit retrofit of an eight-property tenement block in Glasgow. Critical to this project will be assessing the scalability and replicability of the lessons learned for Glasgow’s wider pre-1919 #tenement stock. https://lnkd.in/e7Bd9pu

This is what public sector leadership looks like. Taking a hard look at how we respond to #housing emergencies isn’t easy—but it’s necessary. Over the past two days, we’ve kicked off a Best Value Review of The City of Edinburgh Council’s housing emergency plan, exploring how to improve outcomes, impact, and value for money. Few councils would open themselves up to this level of scrutiny—but true leadership means being willing to challenge existing approaches to deliver better results.🙌🏽 Great to be working with Kenneth Gibb (University of Glasgow) and Andrea Paterson (Indigo House Group) to create a roadmap for an even stronger, more effective approach. Thanks also to Simon Community Scotland, who deliver outreach across the city on behalf of the council, for their insights and dedication. Their poster says it best: “If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”❤️

'If the UK is generating more electricity from renewables each year — and renewable electricity is the cheapest on the market — why do prices keep rising instead of falling, as one might expect?' Answers in the attached article...
Dr. Nicholas Harrington examines Britain’s proposed zonal electricity pricing, arguing it won’t lower bills or drive decarbonisation without deeper reform. Read more on The Conversation UK: https://lnkd.in/ejcgmGMw
