An international society for magnetics professionals
About us
The UK Magnetics Society is a leading international Society representing both industrial and academic interests in all spheres of magnetics. The Society aims to: • promote knowledge transfer between industry, academia and government around the world; • initiate active collaboration amongst its members; • provide services of benefit to its members. It is the Society for: • Academics • Companies • Industrialists • Government • Retired professionals • Students • University research groups • Anyone interested in magnetics There are no geographical restrictions on membership. The Society delivers many services to its members: • seminars with leading experts focused on specialised topics of interest • information exchange and networking opportunities, bringing together academic, industrial and government participants • MagNews - the Society’s magazine has a wide but targetted UK and international readership • technology brokerage and technical enquiries, putting future customers or collaborators in touch with you to generate business and research leads • technical directory of members’ services - maintaining a comprehensive list of member’s products and services • publicise magnetics - channel members’ information to a wider and relevant audience • website – with the latest news and information about the Society and relevant organisations.

Solutions to long standing issues are always worth hearing, and in magnetics, issues in metrology are critical. At MMA24@CERN, Franziska Weickert will present Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, PTB's work on using NMR methods with hyperpolarized 3He-gas in the primary Tesla standards of magnetic flux density to close the traceability gap above 0.2T.
