🌳 Is a data deficit slowing our race to Net Zero? 🌳 We recently hosted our second Sustainability Techfast "Closing the data deficit – how PropTech can help tackle the net zero data challenges" alongside British Property Federation. Attendees came together to discuss the importance of energy data and the challenges associated with obtaining accurate data. We also examined how technology can help address some of these data challenges and highlighted the different drivers for obtaining data in commercial versus residential sectors. 💡We kicked off our second Transformative Technologies Techfast yesterday where we looked at the “The Future of Places with IoT : Opportunities, Challenges and the Role of 4G/5G Connectivity”. Thank you to our members Ryan Yates- Facilio, Bastiaan Koekkoek - Equiem and Mikael Lundman - Proptivity for sharing their fantastic insights and case studies. Key Takeaways :   ✔️ IoT solutions are pivotal in helping real estate stakeholders meet their ESG objectives, particularly around energy consumption and operational carbon reduction.   ✔️ Many older buildings still operate with older systems that lack the flexibility needed to integrate IoT solutions, limiting potential efficiencies. Additionally, capital expenditures for retrofitting smart technologies are a key consideration for landlords, who need to balance factors such as tenant demand, budget availability, and the age of the building.   ✔️ Mobile connectivity, both through 4G and 5G, is becoming a crucial amenity for tenants. Buildings with poor indoor mobile coverage frustrate tenants and hinder productivity, particularly in a business environment.   ✔️ Embracing new technologies is increasingly seen as a valuable asset for property management companies. Those that actively integrate PropTech solutions, such as IoT systems and data platforms, are positioning themselves to better meet the needs of property owners and occupiers, enhancing both building management and tenant services.   ✔️ Leveraging IoT data can help reduce void rates by providing valuable insights into space utilisation and tenant behavior.
