In 1944, allied commanders used Southwick House as their headquarters for D-Day. Just over 80 years later, the same house was used for the UK's first ever space wargame, focused on space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
UK Space Command hosted the UK’s first space wargame by holding ‘Space Warrior’ at the Defence Experimentation and Wargaming Hub at Southwick Park in Hampshire. The wargame explored how commercial space-based Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) can work alongside defence’s own space-based ISR capabilities, such as Programme ISTARI, which will deliver a constellation of defence satellites for space-based ISR by 2031. Overseen by Major General Paul Tedman, Commander of UK Space Command, participants in the exercise included staff from across the Ministry of Defence, industry, and international partners & allies. General Luis Saez, Director of Space at the Fuerza Aérea de Chile, visited UK Space Command last week, to discuss space governance, capability integration, and training and education. Communication, engagement, and collaboration between spacefaring nations is vital. We work closely with the UK's partner nations in the Combined Space Operations Initiative, Five Eyes, NATO, and other bilateral relationships.

Thank you to everyone who swung by the UK Space Command stand at #FIA2024 this week. It was another great opportunity to meet with industry and international partners, to explain UK Space Command's role, and discuss issues like force design, resilience, control of space, and the importance of allies and partners.

The Royal International Air Tattoo was another great opportunity for UK Space Command to engage with our partners, and the public. Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, the Royal Air Force (RAF) Chief of the Air Staff, met the team on our stand, and Major General Paul Tedman, Commander of UK Space Command, had several meetings with industry and international partners, including Lieutenant-General Eric Kenny, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force | Aviation royale canadienne.

Yesterday, at #GlobalAirSpaceChiefs, General Chance Saltzman, Chief of Space Operations at the United States Space Force, spoke about integrated deterrence, and how deterrence applies to the complex space domain. Following this, he was joined by Major Generals Greg Novak and Paul Tedman, Commanders of UK Space Command and Defence Space Command. They spoke with the audience about how Australia, the UK, the US, and several other likeminded nations, are working together in space. Finally. General Saltzman spoke to journalists with Air Marshal Paul Godfrey, the new US Space Force Assistant Chief of Space Operations for Future Concepts and Partnerships. In this role he will advise General Saltzman on achieving space superiority and resilience through international partnerships.
