We pleased to announce that Dr Shah Islam – Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square – has been appointed President Elect of UKIO 2025, taking over as President for the 2026 and 2027 congresses. Current UKIO President, Dr Emma Hyde, welcomes him to the role: “I am delighted to share the news of Dr Shah Islam’s appointment as President Elect of UKIO 2025. Shah has been a valued member of the UKIO working party for a number of years, and is currently Vice President for the Industry workstream. Shah’s enthusiasm and engagement with our industry partners has helped to increase the number of industry sessions in the scientific programme and grow the ‘education on the stands’ sessions. I know how passionate Shah is about UKIO, and that he has some exciting ideas for his tenure as President in 2026 and 2027. I look forward to watching his plans unfold in due course.” Shah tells us: “I am incredibly honoured to be the next President Elect of UKIO, an organisation I care deeply about. I feel we have some of the best imaging and oncology care here in the UK and UKIO has been the biggest platform to showcase that talent. I hope to use my experience within the NHS, academia and industry to help deliver events which promote sustainable, equitable and patient-centred imaging and oncology services. For the next 12 months as President Elect, I will continue my role as VP for Industry to support Emma’s wonderful vision for UKIO 2025”.
