The UK Trade Policy observatory (UKTPO) is an interdisciplinary independent expert group of researchers based at the University of Sussex, covering all aspects of trade, aimed at bringing an objective view to trade policy debates and policymaking processes. We conduct independent original research on trade, provide impartial, evidence-based advice and commentary, and offer extensive training on trade and trade policy.
The UKTPO is comprised of academics with expertise in UK and international trade, economics, policy and law. We have carried out research and commented on policy on the following subjects:
- Analysis of trade in goods and services, impact of trade agreements, gravity models.
- Non-tariff barriers, rules of origin, goods and services regulation.
- Brexit and economic uncertainty.
- UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), Northern Ireland Protocol, and Windsor Framework.
