How did Caffè Concerto breathe new light into a landmark Piccadilly venue? In spaces with limited access to natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere can be a real challenge. Without it, interiors can feel dark and unwelcoming - leading to reduced customer satisfaction, a less engaging experience, and ultimately, fewer returning visitors. For Caffè Concerto’s below-street-level Piccadilly restaurant, this was a significant concern. To overcome this, Unibox partnered with shop-fitters, Tekne, to engineer custom LED lightboxes to replicate the effect of real windows, transforming the space into a vibrant and comfortable environment. Using 4000K LEDs with a high CRI (>90), our solution delivered the natural light quality needed to bring the interior to life, ensuring true colour representation and a bright, welcoming feel. The lightboxes are fully dimmable with a DALI system, so they can be adjusted to create the perfect ambience, day or night. This lighting solution improved the customer experience and enhanced brand perception by creating a visually appealing space that drew in more guests. Even in spaces without natural light, smart LED solutions can be a game-changer for hospitality brands. What makes an interior "Instagrammable"? In the retail and hospitality industries, designing spaces that inspire people to snap, share, and engage online is more important than ever. Brands need to create a buzz and catalyse huge social visibility if they're to compete in the digital era. But exactly how is this achieved? Here's how you can create a visually compelling space that will create a social media buzz and boost footfall: ▪️ Statement features: Don't hold back! Bold focal points like large #illuminatedsigns, dramatic lighting, or custom art installations provide the visual impact that makes people reach for their phones. ▪️ Distinctive lighting: Creative #lighting creates a sense of drama, giving people that scroll-stopping backdrop for the perfect Instagram photo. ▪️ Custom branding: Seamlessly integrating your brand’s identity into the design ensures that every shot shares your story, whether it’s a logo, colour scheme, or unique decor. ▪️ Layered textures: No one likes one-dimensional, static photos...so give people rich interior schemes that combine multiple materials, finishes and textures. Think living walls with popping #neon signage, illuminated bar tops, suspended lighting fixtures, and varied upholstery. LED light panels are revolutionising the way architects and designers approach #lighting in interior spaces. With seamless illumination and versatile integration options, #lightpanels are perfect for creating striking, impactful designs in a range of environments. Here are a few of the top applications for LED light panels: ▪️ Feature walls and ceilings – Transform blank spaces into focal points with dynamic, illuminated surfaces that draw attention. ▪️ Retail displays – Enhance product visibility and create an immersive shopping experience by integrating light panels into #shelving, #illuminatedsignage, or window displays. ▪️ Reception areas and lobbies – Make a strong first impression with elegant, backlit walls that set the tone for a premium space. ▪️ Architectural installations: Embed light panels to highlight the natural beauty of translucent materials like marble, onyx, and agate for a stunning visual effect. ▪️ Exhibition stands – Create high-impact, energy-efficient displays that capture the attention of attendees with vibrant, even lighting. 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘃𝘀. 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? When choosing between #lightboxes and #lightpanels for your next project, it's important to understand the key differences across several factors, including construction, technology, and suitability for specific applications. Here’s a breakdown of how they compare: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Lightboxes: These are built with a deeper frame (available in varying depths) to house both the LED light source and a diffuser, making them ideal for thicker applications like signage. Light panels: Ultra-slim and compact, light panels integrate LEDs directly into a slim profile, perfect for applications where minimal depth is key. 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: Lightboxes: Typically feature edge-lit or backlit #LED fabrics with a diffuser to project even light across the surface, offering high brightness for eye-catching visuals. Light panels: Use laser-engraved light guide plates to provide smooth, even illumination and ensure consistent light distribution across the surface. 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Lightboxes: These are ideally suited for high-impact, branded displays and retail signage where visibility is critical, as well as sleek ceiling lighting systems that can be installed flush, recessed, or suspended. Light Panels: Ideal for integrating into architectural features, backlighting translucent materials (e.g. glass, stone), or creating #ambientlighting in spaces with minimal structural depth. Both options offer innovative #LEDlighting solutions, but the choice depends on your project’s specific needs. Need help comparing options and deciding which solution will perform best in your space? 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀: 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 LED light panels are versatile lighting solutions designed to deliver seamless illumination across various surfaces and materials - transforming traditional facades into striking, space-defining features. They consist of thin, flat assemblies that use #LEDs to produce uniform #lighting, making them ideal for architects and interior designers looking to create visually striking environments. Over the last couple of years, light panels have become a hugely popular solution for designers looking to create a huge impact in retail spaces, hospitality venues, and commercial interiors. Their ability to illuminate materials like glass, onyx, or marble with crisp, homogenous lighting adds a modern, luxurious touch. At Unibox, our research and development team have worked tirelessly to finetune the core components of our LED light panels, focusing on: > Diffusers to soften and spread the light evenly across the surface, ensuring visual consistency without shadowing or glare. > Light guide plates (LGPs), laser-engraved in-house with a specially developed dot pattern to redirect LED light for flawless illumination. > Reflectors to maximise efficiency and homogeneity where necessary by directing available light to the intended surface. With customisable powering options like plug-top drivers and jack leads, light panels are flexible and easy to install in a variety of settings. Do you have a project that needs to make a real impact?
