Following the #IWD2025 theme of #AccelerateAction, Uti Nilam Sari's Alumni Spotlight episode is the perfect #MondayMotivation to start your week 💫💪 Using the skills from her joint University of Glasgow & The Glasgow School of Art MSc in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy, Uti founded Medimedi (Medical Media), a pioneering medical visualisation agency in Indonesia. In this episode, we hear what influence the joint degree had on Uti's career, and how she used the accreditation to build a highly acclaimed agency with the aim of improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare education in her hometown. Happy International Women’s Day 💜 This year we are sharing a series of photographs that highlight the multi-talented and inspirational women who have left a mark on our university! 📸 📸 📸 1. Glasgow University has a long history of student activism, and the actions of many alumni helped our university evolve into what we know today! (Demonstration outside GUU, 1981, C. UofG Library) 2. Marion Gilchrist was the first female UofG Graduate and the first woman to graduate in medicine and qualify as a doctor in Scotland. 3. Students outside Queen Margaret College - Founded in 1883, Queen Margaret College was the first women's college. Named for Queen Margaret of Scotland, QM College received crucial support from Isabella Elder (commemorated in Bute Hall and Memorial Gate). 4. @qmunion board meeting - Queen Margaret Union was Scotland's first women-only student union. Founded in 1890 it provided a social space for female students and allowed them to gain political and managerial experience 5. Professor Delphine Parrott - Immunologist, Delphine Parrott was out first female professor. She co-founded out BSc Immunology programme and made major contributions to science, including T-Cell research. 6. The first all-female GUU exec - in 2018 an all-female executive was elected to the GUU, symbolising a new chapter for the former men-only union 7. Chancellor, Dame Katherine Grainger - the first female UofG Chancellor, Grainger is a UofG Graduate and Britain's most decorated female Olympian 8. Students and Unions attending Fight for the Night March - from the suffrage movement to demonstrations against male-only unions to the inter-university Fight for the Night protest, student activism is a central theme in the history of Team UofG 9. The FemCollab - Est. 2024, @uofgfemcollab is a formal collective of feminist and activist societies on campus - one of the first in the country 10. The newly elected all-female QMU exec - Thursday 6th March 2025 saw Lucy Stobie elected as President, and Bee Pritchard and Urja Singh elected as VPs, just in time for IWD 🩷
