In light of the government's proposed ban on disposable vapes in the UK, there is growing concern over the rise in black market products. Illegal vapes, already flooding the UK with over 4 million seized last year alone, present a serious threat to public health. Our Global Technical Specialist (NCP), Benjamin Green, recently spoke to the BBC on this critical issue, highlighting the dangers these illegal products pose, particularly to young people. I had the honour of presenting at the 2FIRSTS US NGP's Regulation Policy and Compliance Development Workshop in Shenzhen, China, on August 26, 2024. The FDA has announced a proposed rule that would require the submission of tracking numbers for all e-cigarette imports. This process aims to streamline the process of reviewing the admissibility of ENDS products into the United States. Under the proposed rule, if finalised, any ENDS product, including e-cigarettes, for which the STN is not submitted may be denied entry into the U.S. An FDA-issued STN is one data element that is important to FDA’s admissibility review and determination, which also includes review of other information about the product as well as possible sampling and examination of the product.
