As development professionals, we are committed to advancing infrastructure while prioritizing the preservation of our planet’s ecological health. Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are critical tools that evaluate the potential environmental effects of land development projects, ensuring the protection of biodiversity and vital ecosystem services. By incorporating the EIA process early in project planning, we can achieve key benefits such as wildlife habitat preservation and enhanced water management, contributing to greater sustainability and community support. However, challenges such as underestimating project impacts and insufficient stakeholder engagement remain. Addressing these challenges requires robust data collection and transparent communication to ensure more informed decision-making and successful project outcomes. #SustainableDevelopment #EnvironmentalImpact #Biodiversity #EcosystemServices #LandDevelopment #CommunityEngagement #EthicalPractices

Last week we welcomed a work experience Year 10 student Bessie, to our Portishead office. Bessie didn't know what we did before she came, and we'd encourage all companies to provide this experience to students, an excellent way to bring the next generation into the industry. We all really enjoyed having her at the office and I'm sure she will be back with more lemon drizzle cake! Below is her summary of the week.... "During my time at Vertase FLI, I have had numerous opportunities to learn and understand different types of jobs from finance to using CAD. By participating in a whole range of jobs it allowed me to find out more about what jobs I would and wouldn’t like to do in the future. I also found out that although I liked the office environment I would definitely like time on site. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by everyone in the office. As the week went on I found the office has a huge family feeling to it which for me is great because if you are spending a long time in the office you want to be able to talk to people and be able to have a laugh. I can see that Vertase FLI are committed to their employees and their wellbeing in the culture club that they run which I was fortunate enough to go to. In the culture club they discuss how to make it the best possible place to work. In my eyes this is fantastic because they don’t just stop at being a good company they strive in being a great company to work for. Overall, my experience has been immensely rewarding. The company provides a supportive and collaborative work environment, numerous opportunities for professional development, and the chance to work on impactful and innovative projects. I highly recommend Vertase FLI to anyone seeking a dynamic and supportive workplace with opportunities for professional growth and meaningful work."

Yesterday our Technical and Innovation team met to engage in our annual Engineers Day Workshop. Every year we gather the VertaseFLI Technical and Innovation Team together to provide a day of learning, workshops, and presentations to encourage continued professional development for our team, and to ensure we maintain one of the best technical teams in the remediation industry. When we are all working on sites across the UK, opportunities to all come together and share our knowledge are so valuable and rewarding. This year we were very excited to have talks on permitting, risk assessment, hazardous waste management, career development, GPS guided plant, equipment management, lone working health and safety and a great presentation from David Middleton at ABG Geosynthetics Limited on their products and how they can be used to great effect in our remediation and earthworks projects.   A massive thanks to everyone involved for delivering a brilliant day.  #vertasefli #technical #innovation #team #engineers #CAD #remediationspecialists #remediation #greatplacetowork

We are looking to recruit a Geospatial Data Manager to join our prestigious Technical and Innovation Team. The role is a senior management position that would be ideal for an ambitious, enthusiastic and technically competent individual with a background in, and passion for, digital data handling, remediation/earthworks design and land surveying. The successful candidate for this unique and rewarding role would be joining one of the most respected technically qualified and award-winning Brownfield Remediation contractors in the UK, working on some of the largest, most challenging and exciting projects across the country. In summary, the role involves: ·       Geospatial data collection using state of the art survey equipment (GPS equipment, total station, digital level, etc), including drone technology. The successful candidate would ideally be a qualified drone operator however this is not essential as full training shall be provided. ·       Geospatial data handling within state-of-the-art software applications, including GIS, terrain modelling software and our very own in-house bespoke data handling software – VertaVerse. ·       Geospatial data interrogation, interpretation and visualisation to calculate earthworks volumes, produce technical drawings and to inform key decision-making within the business. ·       Geospatial data utilisation within earthworks plant, including the development and upload of terrain models into bulldozers and excavators ·       Management of CAD Engineers and Surveyors. The technical role is central as it provides input into various key functions of the business including the tendering team, operations and project delivery team & commercial team. The successful candidate shall therefore possess excellent communication skills with a desire to collaborate and be capable of bridging the communication gap between disciplines, conveying often complex geospatial data issues in simple language. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package including a generous package of benefits. Recently, members of the VertaseFLI team visited the Socotec Chemical Lab. A Day of Insight and Interaction: The visit was organised to give our team a holistic view of the lab's workings. The day began with a detailed technical update and a guided tour of the lab facilities. This was an educational experience and a fantastic team bonding and networking opportunity. For our new team members, it was a practical look at the challenges behind the reports we depend on. It reminded us of the significance of every aspect of the remediation process. A big thanks to our hosts SOCOTEC UK - Amy Parekh-Pross and Katy Strudwick for their exceptional hosting, Elise Ford for her attentive care, and Stacey Ottewill for the enlightening technical update. Their efforts ensured that our visit was both informative and enjoyable. This is what Vertase FLI stands for - continuous learning, curiosity, and commitment to excellence. We're excited for the growth and collaboration that lie ahead. Here's to the power of knowledge and our team unity! #TeamBuilding #Collaboration #ProfessionalGrowth #ContinuousLearning #EnvironmentalRemediation

We're at a crossroads with our contaminated land – it's a legacy we can no longer ignore. We've recently explored innovative strategies for land remediation, and the findings are a call to action. Comprehensive site assessments are the bedrock of effective land restoration. Without them, we're blind to the contaminants beneath us. And when it comes to cleanup, nature offers some of the best solutions. Here's what we've found works: 👉 Bioremediation leverages the power of microbes to neutralize pollutants. 👉 Chemical stabilisation locks away toxins, halting their spread. Each method has its place, but the true power lies in their combined potential. While there are many challenges, the path to ecological harmony is clear. We're committed to turning contaminated sites into safe, development-ready platforms. What's more motivating than knowing every remediated site is a step toward a healthier earth? 🌎 Let's continue pushing the boundaries of environmental restoration. The full details of our in-depth article are in the comments below. #LandRemediation #EnvironmentalRestoration #SustainableSolutions #EcologicalHarmony
