On Friday, Vestatec took part in our first Get Busy Living Corporate Games, run by the Matt Hampson Foundation. With a team comprised of staff from across the business, including commercial, engineering, operations, & production, this was a great opportunity for interdepartmental team building and developing leadership skills in a fun and competitive environment. Meet Claire Lloyd, our Quality Manager. It's been 8 months since we welcomed Claire to the team here at Vestatec and in that short time she's already helped us to navigate another successful IATF audit and secure our first Tisax label. We asked her a few questions about her role and how she likes to spend her time outside of work. Here's what she had to say... You’ve been at Vestatec for 8 months now, how are you finding it? I am thoroughly enjoying working at Vestatec, it feels as though I have always worked here. The team here have made me feel very welcome and it's a positive environment to come into everyday. What does a day in your role look like? Every day is very different, but I always try to start the day looking at what, if any, parts were rejected the day before. The rest of the day then revolves around meetings and what is high priority that day, whether it is writing procedures for quality systems and auditing or speaking to customers or suppliers relating to concerns. In between all of that, I'll also be leading and supporting my team to stay on top of non-conformances, problems & systems management. How do you spend your free time when you’re not working? I am a Grandma to three Granddaughters (who are the apple of my eye) and a furry Granddaughter (Nala, my older daughter’s dog). I like to spend time with them, eating out with my partner, being out in my garden, reading (in particular detective type stories) and walking. Tell us a fun fact about you? I lived in Saudi Arabia for four years in my mid-twenties, when my children were young, and that was certainly an experience! We lived on a secure compound with our own dedicated swimming pool, which was the perfect setting for weekend BBQs! I look back fondly on that time, especially the trips out to the desert and the coast. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I seriously don’t know! I should be retired by then, but if I am still fit and well, I will be here in the middle of it all with you all. If I have retired, I will definitely have a dog and it will more than likely be a Labrador, which means lots of countryside walks! What is the best advice you have ever received? Despite challenging market conditions, car sales are continuing to grow year-on-year.
