How difficult is it to decarbonise a 100 year old, solid brick house with no wall insulation and decorative radiators? Well, a bit it turns out but the team have worked incredibly hard to remove the fossil fuel dependancy of Patrick's home and recorded the cool tech we've used to facilitate.
More on this to come....
MCS is going through a long needed shakeup, it is crucial that it is done in a way that supports the installers and homeowners in delivering decarbonisation responsibly.
I've read the most recent and informative article by Ian Rippin discussing further the planned changes to MCS. I welcome the consolidation of compliance with consumer protection, it's been too easy for customers to be pushed from pillar to post. One particular point in the article caught my eye - "A key part of this standardisation will be the requirement of a named Technical Supervisor to ‘sign off’ on the quality of a completed installation." Presently we use a Nominated Technical Person and my view has always been that this person should be a technical installer rather than someone in an office signing off dozens (if not hundreds) of projects that they have never visited. Remote commissioning is (in my humble opinion) simply, not commissioning. Unless the technical person is the one checking the full system, settings, affected design and loads more then it is a drive for more compliance and less care for the actual performance of the system. I hope Adam Chapman would agree with me that the most important part of this whole industry is the on site installer, Ian Rippin would you like to comment on your opinion of "remote commissioning" under the new MCS structure? https://lnkd.in/euvFdT3R
Today's the day! VitoEnergy hosting Optimum Energy Solutions in partnership with Go Geothermal Ltd to provide subsidised Air Source Heat Pumps training to 12 engineers. VitoEnergy is pleased to announce that we are running MCS qualifying Heat Pump training from our Surrey offices, click on the link to learn more!
As a heat pump installer and umbrella company, training has always been a crucial part of supporting our engineers. All our installers and designers have undertaken the excellent Heat Geek online training and now we are hosting a fully MCS compliant course in-house. Supported by our partners at Go Geothermal Ltd, we hope this is the first of many courses to help transition gas installers to a new world of renewables. The first course is running in Mytchett, Surrey on the 17th June, it is heavily subsidised with restricted seats left, so book early to avoid disappointment! Qualifications will enable the right candidate to Design, Install and commission their own heat pump projects, more support is given by our experienced technical team throughout your project.
Thanks to Chris Kemp for showing our team the vast options from Zehnder Radiators today! #heatpumps 😀
