The latest on AI in fashion. For Vestiaire Collective, the Paris-based resale platform, one key challenge remains: helping customers find specific products within a vast inventory that spans sizes, styles, and seasons. Incomplete product descriptions make this hunt even more difficult. To address this, the peer-to-peer resale platform is introducing #AI tools to assist with various tasks, from product searches (on the buyer side) to pricing optimisation (for sellers). With over 5 million items across 10,000 new and vintage brands, AI enhances search efficiency and accuracy. Here, Maghan McDowell breaks down how it works: https://lnkd.in/ehh7mfX5

Balmain put its own beauty line front and centre on the catwalk this season. Instead of bold makeup on the models, the collection itself featured hand-embroidered faces (including #KylieJenner), eyeshadow bracelets and Balmain fragrances styled as clutches. Generally, makeup artists played more freely with their looks on the runway, observers say; encouraging a spirit of experimentation that will carry over into consumer behaviour. What are the other key #beauty takeaways from #fashion month? Nateisha Scott has the story. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eGaAUXAG

What were the most-viewed SS25 shows on Vogue Runway? This season, Victoria Beckham rose the ranks with a bullet and Ralph Lauren was another new entry in the top five, thanks to its star-studded Hamptons show. What else is new? For the second season running, the list is majority women-led brands. Chloé’s Chemena Kamali had the goodwill of the fashion crowd and the sophomore collection to back it up, and Christian Dior Couture’s Maria Grazia Chiuri slung a few arrows at her constant naysayers. But where did they rank? Find out here: https://lnkd.in/ecchqP8G

Paid partnership | Hard luxury thrifting is gaining ground in #China. Will it last? For the first time in the past year, per #VogueBusiness research in partnership with Barclays Investment Bank, the third quarter of 2024 saw a decline in China’s lower-tier ¢luxury spend (less than RMB 22,499 or $3,209). While 9% of consumers have fallen out of the lower tier category, both middle tier (between RMB 22,500-52,499 or $3,209-7,488) and higher tier spend (more than RMB 52,500 or $7,488) are on the rise, bucking the trend of the slight but steady decline witnessed in the latter half of 2023 and early 2024. Despite an uplift in high-tier luxury spending, cautious purchasing habits are projected to make a comeback due to macroeconomic factors such as the upcoming US election. Will it last? Find out more from the third instalment of research into the luxury Chinese market. https://lnkd.in/ebPUy_tz
